This position will assist with specialized technical duties that include, but are not limited to, supporting the build, splice, test, and maintenance of fiber optic systems for Outside Plant (OSP) and Inside Plant (ISP). The Fiber Optic Splicer Assistant will work closely with splicers and small crews, demonstrate the ability to follow complex instructions, and possess the physical ability to perform the necessary tasks, helping ensure that projects are completed within schedule, budget, and scope.

ESSENTIAL CAPABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Demonstrate knowledge of the standards, materials, techniques, and equipment used in the installation, maintenance, and repair of Fiber Optic OSP/ISP.
Assist with the repair of Fiber Optic cable in a variety of environments.
Ensure work performed conforms to client requirements and all regulations while meeting quality control expectations.
Follow up on all details until the job is complete while adhering to all safety protocols.
Assist with the installation, maintenance, and repair of fiber optic systems for OSP/ISP projects.
Support splicing operations by organizing tools, closures, and materials.
Help set up and maintain equipment, including Signal Level Meters, Fiber Optic Scopes, and OTDRs.
Assist in taking and recording loss measurements and interpreting test results under guidance.
Support cable preparation and repairs in various environments.
Install and test pressurized and non-pressurized closures alongside experienced splicers.
Follow all safety protocols and ensure a safe work environment.
Be available to assist during working and non-working hours as needed.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
Ability to provide 24x7 emergency response support.
Ability to travel as needed
Ability to Operate Aerial Lifts, exercise ladder safety, and to work safely in a manhole environment. - Training provided
Ability to work both independently and with others as a team.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced and quickly changing work environment with strict deadlines.
Ability to hear, understand, and respond to verbal requests made in person, by radio, and over the telephone.
Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
Ability to stand 90% of the day, stoop, bend, walk, climb, reach, and stretch.
Ability to lift to 70 pounds.
QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES
No Fiber Optic Splicing experience required, one(1) or more years experience preferred.
FOA Certifications with field experience preferred.
Current, Valid Driver's License required; CDL Class A is a big plus.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must have excellent organizational skills and be detailed oriented.
