The Department of Public Works is seeking a candidate to join the team in performing a variety of paraprofessional and technical accounting and bookkeeping duties, including the processing, maintenance, and review of financial and related records. This role supports the accuracy and efficiency of departmental operations and contributes to the timely completion of financial processes. This position supports the Public Works Department by performing a variety of administrative and operational support duties. The role assists with processing and maintaining records, coordinating information across departments, and helping ensure day-to-day operations run smoothly. It plays an important part in supporting the overall efficiency and effectiveness of Public Works services. Supervision & Examples of Duties Receives direct supervision from higher level supervisory or management staff. May exercise functional and technical supervision over lower-level accounting clerical staff. Qualifications Experience and Training Guidelines - Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: Experience: Four years of progressively responsible clerical accounting or bookkeeping experience. Training: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialized course work in bookkeeping, accounting or a related field. Supplemental Information The salary range above consists of 15 steps. Steps 1-6 are annual merit steps with approximately 5% difference between each step, based on successful performance. Steps 7-15 are additional merit steps, requiring 2 years of satisfactory performance at the previous step. Steps 7-14 provide 2.5% increases, while Step 15 offers a 5% increase.
