Special Education - Transition SpecialistJOB STATUS: OPEN POSTING DATE: 03/24/2026 POSTING NUMBER: 052411 LOCATION: Admin Special Education - 877 POSITION TITLE: Special Education - Transition SpecialistJOB DESCRIPTION:Provide oversight and guidance for post-secondary transition planning on secondary campuses, as well as supervision to Work-Based Learning programs and 18+ services in CISD. Monitor and report Transition activities in compliance with Federal and State law and District procedures.DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:Review IEP Transition Services policies and procedures to ensure effective transition planning and compliance with local, state and federal regulations.Attend staff meetings and provide input necessary for effective transition planning; attend ARD/IEP meetings when appropriate.Work with staff to ensure each student of appropriate age has a transition plan in place and the plan is updated at least annually.Ensure compliance activities that are part of the State Performance Plan as well as the Performance Based Monitoring Analysis System.Initiate and maintain collaboration with employers, local education institutions and adult service providers to provide current information to students and their families regarding post secondary options.Develop and provide transition related training to students and families to raise awareness and facilitate successful student outcomes.Facilitate referrals to outside agencies and/or post secondary institutions appropriate to student transition needs.Provide in-service training to staff on transition topics and any new changes to the transition planning process.Coordinate planning and implementation of the annual CISD Transition Fair.Maintain confidentiality.Perform other duties as assigned.EXPERIENCE:Three years of secondary special education teaching experienceExperience working with students with special needsSupervisory experienceQUALIFICATIONS:Education/Certification:Master's degree in the field of education and/or contentValid Texas Teaching CertificateCertification as a Special Education TeacherSpecial Knowledge/Skills:Knowledge of special education policies and procedures, as well as state and federal guidelines for special education studentsWorking knowledge of transition planning process and Work -Based Learning opportunities for students with disabilitiesExcellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skillsFamiliar with post secondary college requirements and/or agency support available to students with disabilitiesAbility to travel to multiple work locations as assignedCONTACT INFORMATION:SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Teachers and paraprofessionals as assignedMental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:Maintain emotional control under stress; district travel; occasional prolonged/irregular hoursAPPLY TO:To apply for this position, click "login" above.
