However, it is expected that all applicants will have graduated from an accredited pharmacy program before the start of the residency in July. Why Choose YVFWC? Yakima Valley Farm Workers, in collaboration with Washington State University (WSU) College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, offers a one-year post-graduate primary care pharmacy residency program. Located in Toppenish and Spokane, WA, this program provides advanced training that surpasses traditional academic learning, undergraduate pharmacy clerkships, and general community pharmacy practice. Residents will develop and deliver patient care services, focusing on managing chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular risk, hepatitis C, and anticoagulation. They will also contribute to setting and achieving departmental goals to enhance pharmaceutical services and patient care standards. To meet these objectives, residents will participate in both required and optional experiences within the YVFWC organization. These experiences include primary care services, clinic-based pharmacy management, central fill and specialty pharmacy operations, care for patients with HIV, refugee services, and administrative practices. Additionally, residents will have opportunities to engage in research and gain teaching experience through our partnership with the WSU College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Overall, this program emphasizes delivering pharmaceutical care to improve patient outcomes, regardless of the patient's background or circumstances.
