Director of Plant Operations
About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Operations Leader to drive performance at one of our key manufacturing facilities. In this pivotal role, you will oversee all plant operations, ensuring alignment with safety, quality, and cost objectives. Your expertise in lean manufacturing and people management will be crucial in fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
Directly oversee plant operations encompassing production, quality assurance, maintenance, supply chain activities, human resources, and financial performance to achieve safety, quality standards, on-time delivery, and cost efficiency targets.
Champion a culture of safety by enforcing safety policies, adhering to food safety regulations, and maintaining compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Spearhead the development and execution of manufacturing strategies aimed at enhancing operational effectiveness and optimizing resource utilization.
Exercise fiscal responsibility by managing plant budgets, implementing cost control measures, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to meet financial and operational goals.
Cultivate a high-performance work environment by setting clear expectations, providing constructive feedback, and fostering the professional development of team members.
Collaborate cross-functionally with quality control, procurement, and engineering teams to ensure that materials and processes consistently meet or exceed customer specifications.
Promote teamwork and inclusivity through transparent communication and collaborative leadership practices.
Uphold food safety and product quality standards by ensuring consistent adherence to established systems and protocols.
Qualifications
Required Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related discipline.
A minimum of ten years of progressive experience in a manufacturing or operations environment.
Demonstrated experience in financial oversight, including profit and loss (P&L) management.
Proficiency in guiding teams, facilitating effective decision-making processes, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
Preferred Skills
Familiarity with union environments and labor relations practices.
Exceptional communication skills and the ability to facilitate effective problem-solving efforts.
Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, or other continuous improvement frameworks.
