This role serves as a subject matter expert on state and local tax regulations, ensuring payroll operations adhere to all applicable laws and reporting requirements across multiple jurisdictions. This position partners closely with HR, Finance, and external vendors to resolve payroll discrepancies, support audits, and implement process improvements that enhance accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.Job Responsibilities:Process, review, and validate payroll for salaried and hourly employees, ensuring accuracy and timelinessManage payroll tax calculations, filings, and reconciliations at the federal, state, and local levelsEnsure compliance with all payroll tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirementsReview and reconcile payroll tax filings, including quarterly and annual returns (e.g., Forms 941, 940, W-2, W-3, state equivalents)Analyze payroll and tax data to identify discrepancies, trends, and root causesPartner with HR, Finance, Accounting, and third-party vendors to resolve payroll and tax-related issuesSupport payroll tax audits, agency notices, and inquiries; research and resolve discrepanciesAssist with payroll system upgrades, tax configuration, implementations, and testingMonitor changes in payroll tax legislation and assess the impact on payroll processesRespond to employee payroll and tax inquiries with professionalism and confidentialityMaintain payroll and tax documentation, procedures, and internal controlsQualificationsEducation, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:.5+ years of payroll tax compliance7+ years multi-state payroll processingCertified Payroll Professional (CPP) Designation preferredDeep expertise in federal, state, and local payroll tax laws, including multi-state compliance, withholding, reciprocity, and unemployment insuranceAdvanced experience with payroll tax filings, reconciliations, and year-end processes (e.g., W-2, 941, and state equivalents), including resolution of complex tax discrepanciesExperience partnering with payroll tax vendors and supporting internal and external audits as a payroll tax subject matter expertProficiency with payroll systems, preferably ADP, with strong analytical skills and attention to detail to manage compliance across multiple jurisdictionsAdditional InformationMedical, Dental and Vision starting the 1st of the month following 30 days of employment2 Weeks’ starting Vacation per year.
