The Operations Manager leads the production department and their efforts in the safe and cost-effective operation. Responsible for facilitating, directing and controlling, as appropriate, all aspects of the production operation to ensure achievement of company goals and objectives. Ensure that the plant is operating in compliance with all regulatory and company policies, procedures, and regulations.DutiesPlan, organize and direct the Manufacturing departmentPlan, direct production activities & establish production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factorsIn conjunction with Production Supervisors, coordinate and supervise the daily, weekly, and monthly activities of ProductionWork with other functional leaders (internal to plant and corporate) to develop & implement plans to efficiently use materials, labor & equipment to meet production targetsOrganize/facilitate production shutdown/start-up for maintenance purposesAchieve project or departmental objectives within agreed time, cost, & quality parametersAlong with Safety Rep for the plant and Corporate Safety Director, responsible for the safe operation of the production area ensuring the staff is properly trained on the company's safety policies, practices, and proceduresIdentify/resolve safety concerns or issues, including accident/incident reporting, investigation and resolutionEnsure that manufacturing team members are properly trained, responsible for their safety, the safety of their team members and the quality of our productionDevelop & deliver Manufacturing Cost Savings plans to achieve annual savings goalsProvide full cycle performance management support for direct reportsEnsure Production Dept has the appropriate training and coverage. Update training schedule/program to cross train employeesRequirementsB.S. Chemical or Mechanical Engineering preferred with experience in the chemical industryMinimum 5 years of manufacturing experience ideally with 2-3 years of direct leadership/management of plant personnelStrong understanding of KPI’s and delivering resultsExperience in developing and planning forecast and execute operating budgetsResults driven leaderStrategic thinker, planner, able to drive continuous improvement and achieve resultsStrong leadership, interpersonal, organizational, motivational, and communication skills which can be demonstrated in an everyday work environmentPossess high professional ethics, dependability, good judgment and ability to take decisive actionProficiency in use of personal computers including MS Outlook, Excel (pivot tables, formula, conditional formatting etc), & WordSix Sigma or Lean manufacturing experience ideal
