Clinician
Position Summary
Fresh Start Outreach, LLC is seeking a Registered Clinician (LPC-R or LCSW-R) to provide evidence-based mental health and substance use treatment services to adults in outpatient and intensive outpatient settings. The Clinician will deliver individual and group therapy, complete clinical documentation in compliance with DBHDS, DMAS, and Virginia Board of Counseling/Social Work regulations, and actively participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning and supervision.
This position is ideal for a motivated, growth-oriented clinician working toward full licensure who values ethical practice, cultural responsiveness, and client-centered care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical Services
Complete biopsychosocial assessments, diagnoses, ISPs, progress notes, and discharge summaries
Utilize evidence-based practices (CBT, MI, Person-Centered, trauma-informed approaches, etc.)
Collaborate with peers, case managers, CSACs, and supervisors to support holistic care
Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as clinically indicated
Provide crisis intervention and risk assessment when needed
Documentation & Compliance
Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation per 12VAC35-105, DMAS ARTS, and agency policy
Ensure documentation supports medical necessity and service justification
Participate in audits, utilization reviews, and quality-assurance activities
Maintain HIPAA compliance and client confidentiality at all times
Professional Responsibilities
Participate in required clinical supervision toward full licensure
Attend treatment team meetings, trainings, and staff meetings
Adhere to the ACA / NASW Code of Ethics and agency standards
Maintain active registration and complete required CEUs
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, or a related behavioral health field
Current LPC-R (Licensed Professional Counselor – Resident) or LCSW-R (Licensed Clinical Social Worker – Resident) in Virginia
Eligible and actively participating in clinical supervision
Knowledge of substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions
Strong clinical writing and documentation skills
Ability to work effectively with diverse populations
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in IOP, PHP, or substance use treatment settings
Familiarity with ASAM criteria and DMAS/DBHDS regulations
Experience working with justice-involved, high-risk, or underserved populations
Bilingual abilities (preferred, not required)

May require evening hours based on program needs
