This position is responsible for developing, troubleshooting, and improving injection molding and assembly processes while ensuring efficiency, quality, and cost targets are achieved.The Process Engineer leverages data-driven decision-making and scientific molding methodologies to enhance manufacturing performance, support new program launches, and contribute to overall operational excellence.Primary Duties and Responsibilities:Key ResponsibilitiesLead and support technical problem-solving efforts related to manufacturing processes and equipmentDevelop, optimize, and document robust injection molding and assembly processesTroubleshoot production issues directly on the floor and implement corrective actionsConduct DOE (Design of Experiments), validation activities, and capability studiesAnalyze process data to drive continuous improvement and reduce scrapEnsure all process documentation, work instructions, and reports are completed accurately and on timeSupport new tool launches, engineering changes, and sampling activities within required timelinesCollaborate with tooling, quality, and program management teams to ensure successful project executionUtilize automation (e.g., robotics, pickers) to improve efficiency, quality, and cost performanceParticipate in customer visits and support mold trials as neededLeadership & DevelopmentTrain and mentor Process Technicians to develop advanced technical capabilitiesLead or contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operationsPromote best practices in scientific molding (e.g., RJG methodology) and standardized processesKey AccountabilitiesAchieve or exceed cost targets related to setup time and cycle efficiencyMeet established timelines for sampling and production readinessMaintain accurate and timely process documentationReduce scrap and improve process capability on challenging programsSupport preventative maintenance strategies for critical equipmentKey Working Relationships:Manufacturing TeamTooling TeamQuality TeamProgram ManagementCustomers (as needed for trials and visits)Physical Demands/Work Environment:Work performed in a manufacturing environmentFrequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting (up to 50 lbs.)Ability to work both on the production floor and at a computer workstationThis role is required to be on-site 5 days at the Clinton Township, MI location.About UsTriMas Life Sciences is a global provider of precision injection-molded components and assemblies for the medical device, diagnostic, pharmaceutical and surgical markets.
