Legal Billing Clerk (San Rafael, CA)LHH is teaming up with a professional services organization within the legal industry in San Rafael, CA in search of a Legal Billing Clerk to support attorneys and internal accounting teams with full-cycle client billing operations. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant billing in a high-volume legal environment. You will have hands-on ownership of the billing process, exposure to complex billing structures, and responsibility for producing final invoices-not just supporting the process. The ideal candidate brings prior legal billing and eBilling experience and is comfortable managing multiple matters simultaneously. You have a sharp eye for detail, especially when tracking rejected invoices and ensuring nothing falls through the cracks. You are confident working independently, generating detailed reports, and navigating billing systems while partnering closely with attorneys and accounting stakeholders. Key Responsibilities:Produce and submit legal invoices from start to finish, including complex eBilling submissions Manage a high-volume workload of approximately 1,500 invoices per month Review and edit pre-bills based on attorney feedback and client billing guidelines Submit invoices through multiple eBilling platforms and resolve rejections or appeals Track work in progress, outstanding pre-bills, billing reductions, and carry-forwards Prepare detailed billing and reporting analyses, including bill rates, rate increases, and WIP Maintain accurate client, matter, and billing instruction records Follow up on rejected or unpaid invoices to ensure timely resolution Partner with attorneys and accounting teams to resolve billing discrepancies Qualifications:Minimum of 2 years of full-cycle legal billing or similar experience from a highly regulated (e.g. medical, accounting, construction, etc.) environment required Hands-on experience producing invoices independently (not support-only billing) required Experience with legal billing software required (ProLaw preferred; other systems acceptable) Experience working with multiple eBilling platforms required Strong understanding of client billing guidelines and rate compliance required High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail required Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and reporting required Ability to work occasional overtime as needed Job Type: Direct Hire Start Date: ASAP Location: Hybrid in San Rafael, CA Hours: Full-time, with some overtime required Pay Rate: Salary $70-80K Our partner company offers a robust benefits package for full?time employees, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) plan with profit?sharing, and generous paid time off.
