Enrichment Instructor
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Enrichment Instructor is responsible for partnering with community members and organizations to design, develop, and implement youth and/or family centered programs at the YMCA branches and in the community. In this role you will design and deliver engaging and educational activities that cater to various interests and age groups, from arts and crafts to STEAM activities, your creativity and expertise will inspire participants to explore new skills and foster a sense of curiosity. This position encompasses a variety of different activities, offering a unique opportunity to enrich the lives of our youth and support their well-being through innovative programming. Therefore, the requirements of the individual filling the position and essential functions may vary slightly depending upon the needs and requirements of the program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Develop and implement curriculum for specialty programs such as music, arts, crafts, STEAM or other enriching activities. Focus area(s) may depend upon specific needs and/or current grant requirements.
Plan and lead engaging sessions that promote skill development, creativity and enjoyment.
Ensure the safety and well-being of participants during program activities.
Adapt activities to accommodate varying skill levels and age groups.
Ability to work with and instruct youth in elementary, middle and high school. Facilitates group learning and instructs multiple youth in each session.
Engages middle and high school participants in recreation, leadership development, service learning, civic engagement, college and career pathways, and other personal development areas.
Communicate effectively with participants, parents, and YMCA staff to ensure program success.
Maintain program supplies and equipment, ensuring they are in good condition and ready for use.
Provide a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment consistent with the program model and goals.
Maintain accurate records based upon individual grant requirements and use assigned metrics to measure and report the success of the program.
Assist in the supervision and guidance of junior staff members and volunteers, providing mentorship and support as needed.
Contribute to the development of our program by suggesting new ideas, participating in staff meetings and trainings, and providing feedback on program improvement.
Ensure that all staff and participants are respectful of facility/property, and all of their rules and expectations are followed.
Responds confidentially to reports of suspicious and inappropriate behaviors, or policy and procedure violations, in accordance with the associations procedures.
Demonstrates a working knowledge of YMCA mission, core values, purpose and goals, policies, and YMCA standards; ensures the program meets the highest standards of excellence.
Assist in the overall retention and satisfaction of YMCA members through appropriate customer service
Assist in the Annual Campaign fundraising program for the YMCA
Maintain a positive and cheerful attitude with staff, peers, and program participants
Willingly perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:
College degree in a related field
Exercise mature judgment and sound decision-making
Possess a collaborative and flexible mindset that elevates youth voice, and provide opportunities in areas where the candidate may not have expertise
Customer service oriented with strong interpersonal skills, well organized and multi-tasked oriented
Lead by example, serve as a model of professionalism and competency for peers and employees
Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds
Must be computer proficient and have the ability to operate required software applications.
Experience with setting SMART goals and using program assessment tools is highly preferred
