In this role, you'll be the person our residents and property owners count on to keep their buildings safe, functional, and well-maintained. You won't just be fixing things you'll be protecting people's homes and preserving the value of the properties in our portfolio.If you take pride in your craft, show up when you say you will, and treat every job big or small like it matters, we want to talk to you.Responsibilities:What You'll Be DoingPerform routine and as-needed maintenance repairs across residential properties in the Serene PM portfolio, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, painting, and general upkeepComplete unit turns between tenants, patching, painting, cleaning fixtures, replacing hardware, and ensuring units are move-in ready to Serene PM standardsRespond to maintenance work orders submitted by residents in a timely, professional, and courteous mannerConduct routine property walk-throughs and inspections to identify maintenance issues before they become costly problemsCoordinate with property managers and vendors on larger repair projects that require licensed contractors or specialty tradesDocument completed work orders with notes, photos, and status updates using our property management platformEnsure all work is completed safely, cleanly, and in compliance with local building codes and habitability standardsHandle seasonal maintenance tasks such as weatherproofing, common area upkeep, and preventative maintenance checksQualifications:What We're Looking ForMinimum 2–3 years of hands-on handyman, maintenance, or facilities experience; residential property experience is strongly preferredGeneral proficiency across multiple trades: basic plumbing, electrical, drywall, carpentry, painting, and fixture installationReliable transportation and the ability to travel between properties in the Chicago areaA professional, courteous demeanor when interacting with residents and property owners, you represent the Serene brand in the fieldStrong time management skills, you manage your own schedule, prioritize effectively, and follow through on every work orderAbility to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks in varied environmentsSmartphone proficiency for communication, work order tracking, and photo documentationHVAC, plumbing, or electrical certifications are a plus, but not requiredKnowledge of Chicago building codes and habitability requirements is a strong advantageAbout Company:Serene Realty, Inc. is a boutique brokerage rooted in the South Loop with a strong presence throughout Chicago's South Side, Hyde Park, and the greater Chicagoland area.
