This role combines deep technical expertise with leadership of a small, multi‑disciplinary team and close collaboration with NASA stakeholders to deliver insights that shape current operations and future network architectures. Key responsibilities include:Develop and advance quantitative models, algorithms, and simulation frameworks grounded in systems engineering and communications theory to expand mission analysis tool capabilities and assess current and future space communications networks.Provide technical leadership to a multi‑disciplinary team by setting analytical direction, defining modeling and algorithmic approaches, and ensuring the rigor, traceability, and validity of analysis products.Lead complex system analyses using developed models and frameworks, including analyses of alternatives, network loading and capacity studies, coverage assessments, and RF communications link analyses.Define system requirements, architectures, and designs for analytical tools, and establish verification and validation (V&V) strategies to ensure tools and results satisfy stakeholder requirements and concepts of operations.Collaborate with NASA stakeholders to elicit and refine technical and operational requirements, translate mission objectives into analytically tractable problems, and deliver clear, actionable recommendations to senior leadership and program management.Establish and maintain end‑to‑end analysis processes, and prepare and present high‑quality technical reports and briefings that communicate methodologies, results, assumptions, risks, and tradeoffs to NASA decision‑makers.QualificationsEducation: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or PhysicsExperience: 5+ years of relevant industry or project experienceWork Authorization: U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident required.Role / Work ScheduleThis is a full-time, on-site position in Greenbelt, MDPreferred SkillsIn‑depth knowledge of satellite communications ground systems, including RF modulation techniques, error‑correction coding, link budgets, and protocols.Proven ability to lead technically through influence and expertise, mentoring engineers and analysts while maintaining deep engagement in complex technical problem solving.Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex analytical concepts clearly and concisely to both technical and executive‑level audiences.
