Orthodontic Dental Assistant
Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Orthodontic Dental Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will support orthodontic procedures, assist with patient care, and ensure smooth clinic operations. This role offers an opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment focused on providing exceptional orthodontic treatment, including braces and other appliances, to patients of all ages. The position requires a strong understanding of dental assisting protocols, excellent communication skills, and familiarity with orthodontic-specific procedures.
Duties
Assist orthodontists during patient examinations and procedures, including placement and adjustment of braces and appliances
Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring aseptic techniques are maintained
Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans when applicable, adhering to safety protocols
Educate patients on orthodontic care, appliance maintenance, and oral hygiene practices
Maintain infection control standards through proper sterilization of instruments and equipment
Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and managing medical documentation.
Assist with pediatric dentistry procedures when necessary and adapt communication for pediatric patients
Requirements
Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with knowledge of orthodontic procedures preferred
Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques preferred
Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners safely and effectively
Understanding of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and data security
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in record keeping and patient care documentation
Excellent communication skills for patient education and team collaboration

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour
