Powered by Care.Classification: Non-ExemptEssential Functions:Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.The Level II Technician, Splicing, to perform mid-level splicing on a variety of underground, aerial, and ISP projects nationwide. The Splicing Technician has technical knowledge, skills and experience to perform core splicing functions within the telecommunications industry.Roles and Responsibilities:Performs mid-level splicing functions for aerial, underground, and ISP cable routing on various projectsAbility to read and interpret construction prints, drawings, and splice matrixes to ensure customer requirements are fulfilledAbility to determine equipment needs, cable route, cable direction, safety best practices, and perform splicing functions within a live customer facilityIndependently and safely performs mid-sheath cable entry using proper toolsPerforms mid-level single and/or ribbon splices with the understanding large cable count numberingAbility to read/process test results and problem solve basic issues identified during troubleshootingProficient in mid-level OTDR and power meter testingAbility to install and/or research installation procedures for all splice enclosurePerforms basic cable relocations and hot cuts while maintaining cable organizationEffectively communicates with internal (training peers) and external stakeholders (customers, subcontractors, etc.), addressing issues as they arise and offering customer-centric solutionResponds timely to critical situations and emergency outages with an appropriate level of urgencyMaintains full understanding of safety risks while working in a safety sensitive position, adhering to all safety requirements and standardsPerforms other duties as assigned by leadershipSuccess Factors:Strong team player with the ability to adapt to diverse team membersAbility to perform in a fast paced/high volume environmentExcellent verbal and written communication skillsA high level of time management, accountability, and prioritization skillsAbility to be organized, problem solve, and be solution-orientedSelf-motivated, goal-oriented, and driven to accomplish department goalPossesses professionalism to communicate with internal and external stakeholdersBasic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point)Experience and Education:1-5 years of experience performing fiber optic cable splicing projects requiredOSHA 10 certification (or ability to acquire within 6 months) requiredFirst-aid and/or CPR certifications preferredValid driver license with the ability to obtain a DOT medical card requiredHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredAdditional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications:Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Residence Driver License is RequiredCandidates must pass criminal and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background checks and pass a pre-employment drug screenMust be able to work in a variety of physical positions like sitting, squatting, standing, walking, climbing, etc.When working on site, will be required to wear common protective safety equipment.May be exposed to uncomfortable or distracting sounds or noise levels while onsite.Must endure regular exposure to all weather conditions, including hot, cold, humidity and rain.Notes:The statements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees and are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of responsibilities, duties, and skills required of personnel so classified.
