IT Support Specialist IThe IT Support Specialist I provides first-level technical support to end users across the organization. This role is responsible for desktop support, printer and peripheral management, basic networking tasks, and user account administration. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong customer service skills, technical aptitude, and a willingness to learn and grow within the IT department.Essential FunctionsDesktop Support and End-User ServicesProvide on-site and remote diagnosis and resolution of desktop, laptop, and mobile device issuesInstall, configure, and maintain hardware including PCs, laptops, monitors, and peripheralsSupport Windows 10/11 operating systems and Microsoft 365 applicationsRespond to first-level help desk requestsDocument major project support activities and resolutionsPrinter and Peripheral ManagementInstall, configure, and troubleshoot network and local printersManage print queues and resolve printing issuesSupport scanning devices, label printers, and other office peripheralsCoordinate with vendors for printer maintenance and supply managementBasic NetworkingTroubleshoot basic network connectivity issues (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS)Assist with network cable runs and patch panel connectionsMonitor network performance and report issues to senior support staff and or vendorsPerform basic switch port configuration under supervisionDemonstrate willingness to expand skills into firewall and security operationsServer and Account ManagementCreate, modify, and disable user accounts in Active DirectoryManage group memberships and basic permissionsExecute scheduled backup procedures and verify completionPerform test restores as directed to validate backup integrityMonitor basic server health indicators and escalate issuesCareer PathThis position provides a foundation for growth within the IT department. With demonstrated proficiency in all essential functions, expanded networking and security skills, and relevant certifications (CompTIA Network+ or Security+), advancement to IT Support Specialist II is available.Work EnvironmentThis position operates in an office and manufacturing environment. The role requires the ability to work in various conditions including server rooms, production floors, and office spaces. Some travel between company facilities (Bryan, OH; Allstate Can (New Jersey), data centers and vendors may be required.RequirementsRequiredAssociate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field OR 1-2 years of hands-on IT support experienceWorking knowledge of Windows 10/11 operating systemsUnderstanding of basic networking concepts (IP addressing, DNS, DHCP)Experience troubleshooting desktop hardware and software issuesStrong customer service and communication skillsAbility to lift and move equipment up to 50 poundsValid driver's license for travel between facilitiesPreferredCompTIA A+ or Network+ certificationExperience with Active Directory user administrationExperience in a manufacturing environmentExposure to IBM iSeries (AS/400) systems
