About the CompanyAn organization is seeking a Software Engineer to join an internal operations engineering team focused on building tools, infrastructure, and automation that improve operational efficiency.About the RoleThis role will design and deliver full-stack internal applications, backend services, APIs, third-party platform integrations, and AI-enabled workflows that support customer operations, support teams, and internal business users.ResponsibilitiesInternal Tooling & Application Development Design and build full-stack internal applications that help operations teams work more efficiently.Develop operator-facing tools that improve workflows, visibility, and productivity.Translate business and operational requirements into scalable technical solutions.Own features from design through deployment, monitoring, iteration, and user feedback.Backend Services & API Development Build reliable backend services and APIs that support internal operations and tooling.Design systems for scalability, performance, maintainability, and reliability.Develop integrations between internal systems, operational platforms, and third-party tools.Ensure backend services are well-tested, observable, and production-ready.Platform Integrations & Workflow Automation Build and maintain integrations with platforms such as Retool, Zendesk, and other operational systems.Create workflows that reduce manual effort and standardize internal processes.Improve the usability, reliability, and scalability of internal tooling platforms.Support automation across operational workflows, internal APIs, and business systems.AI-Enabled Engineering Use AI tools and LLM capabilities to automate workflows and improve internal decision-making.Build AI-powered features that enhance operator productivity and reduce manual work.Identify opportunities to apply intelligent automation across internal tools and support workflows.Standardize AI-enabled patterns across internal platforms and applications.Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner closely with operations, customer support, product, and engineering stakeholders.Gather requirements, understand user pain points, and iterate on practical solutions.Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.Participate in code reviews, mentor team members, and contribute to engineering best practices.Production Support & Engineering Quality Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.Participate in monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident response for internal systems.Join an on-call rotation to support critical issues affecting internal users.Contribute to a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, and high-quality engineering delivery. Qualifications5+ years of professional software engineering experience.Experience building and shipping production-grade applications.Strong proficiency in Python, TypeScript/Node.js, or similar programming languages.Experience developing full-stack applications with React, Next.js, or similar frameworks.Strong knowledge of backend architecture, API design, and database systems.Experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, or similar technologies.Experience integrating or applying AI technologies, including LLMs, AI-powered features, or automation use cases.Experience building internal tools or supporting operational workflows.Ability to work directly with non-technical stakeholders to understand and solve business problems.Strong product sense and user empathy.Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS.Understanding of modern DevOps practices.Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.Strong ownership mindset and ability to move quickly while iterating based on feedback.Ability to participate in an on-call rotation.Required SkillsExperience with Retool, Zendesk, or similar internal tooling platforms.Experience building custom tooling on top of customer support or operations platforms.Experience developing internal APIs for business operations teams.Experience applying AI to automate operational workflows end-to-end.Experience in a fast-moving engineering environment.Experience mentoring engineers or contributing to engineering culture and standards.
