This is a part-time, temporary position in which Camp Director will manage all aspects of camp programming, monitoring campers, and supervising staff. The Director may also assume responsibility for duties of a Camp Counselor if needed. Setting options are:• Camp Friendly (ages 6-12) at Durant Nature Preserve or Carolina Pines Community Center. Monday-Friday.• Camp Exploration (ages 13-21) at Marsh Creek. Monday-Friday.• Limitless Teens (ages 13-21) at Eastgate Park. Monday, Wednesday, Friday.Duties and ResponsibilitiesAdministrative Responsibilities:Enforce City of Raleigh Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources policiesAttend, and ensure staff attend, all scheduled trainingsResponsible for schedule and time management of staff: camper ratio, ensuring compliance and safetyAssist in the collection of all staff timesheetsProperly document and communicate staffing concerns, camper behaviors, and other matters to Full Time SupervisorAssist with curriculum development, engaging counselors, and following guidelines and modificationsCommunicate with Full Time Supervisor on supplies neededModel standards for conduct for staff and campersReport to Full Time Supervisor weekly to review operations, staffing, schedules, and supply needs for the upcoming weekDrive City of Raleigh vehicles to transport participants during camp hoursCamp Responsibilities:Primary liaison between camp and camper's parent or guardianOversees camp email, voicemail, and paperwork of participants, including behaviors, accidents and incidentsProvide daily schedules, visual supports, and communications to parents, guardians, and staffAssist participants with personal care activities - toileting, dressing, hygiene, feeding, management of belongings, and/or medicationResponsible for management of check-in/check-out process for all participantsTransport campers and staff in city vehicles, as neededAttend all medical trainings for campers, and assist with medication administration and camper personal care needs during program and tripsMust have the ability to observe camper behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulation and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior management techniques.Manage the documentation of Behavior Action Plans, Incident Plans accidents, and other forms as necessary, capturing statements from witnesses, and notify appropriate staff and personnelModify activities and trips as needed, or provide reasonable modifications for participation as it relates to ozone, weather, and overall general safety of campersSupport and guide the development of camp counselorsTypical QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree preferred in Special Education, Recreation Therapy, Adapted Physical Education, or related field3+ years of experience working with individuals with disabilities2+ years of management and supervisory experiencePossess an excellent work ethicAbility to lead a team and work as a member of a teamMaintain a high standard of maturity and sensitivityProfessional oral and written communication skillsHigh level of motivation, flexibility, creativity, and organizationAbility to take a strong leadership role, address problems quickly and effectively based on policies and proceduresAdvanced computer skills, including spreadsheets, word processing, databases, emailAbility to complete all training requirements prior to start of camp including, a background check and controlled substance screeningA valid North Carolina driver's license and satisfactory driving record are required. Duties may include transporting campers in a 15-passenger minibus. Additional City of Raleigh trainings requiredMinimum age 18 years oldAdditional InformationPosition and hours:Must be available for the month of May, and entire duration of summer camp.Camp dates: June 15 - August 7, 2026 (except June 19 & July 3)Hours are typically between 8:30am - 4:30pm, Monday through Friday.Up to 40 hours per week pre-camp (May)Up to 50 hours per week June-AugustMandatory meetings and required trainings will begin mid-May (may be day, evenings, or weekends)ADA and Other Requirements:Positions in this class typically require balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, talking, seeing, and hearing.Medium Work:Exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.Visual AcuityThe worker is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.Working Conditions:Workers are subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions and noise. Activities occur both inside and outside without protection from the weather. Workers are subject to extreme heat: Temperature above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour.
