Private Credit Analyst - Portfolio Management

The role assists senior analysts and portfolio managers in executing a disciplined investment evaluation and portfolio management process, while building core analytical and modeling capabilities.This position offers exposure to private credit underwriting, portfolio analytics, and investment research within Protective’s investment organization.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist in analyzing credit risk through financial, business, and industry research on borrowers, portfolio companies, and managersSupport preparation of written and verbal credit opinions and investment materialsContribute to relative value analysis across capital structures and transaction termsBuild and maintain Excel‑based financial models, including cash flow, scenario, and sensitivity analysisMonitor portfolio performance, manager results, and relevant market developmentsApply firm tools and analytics to support downside risk evaluationCommunicate findings to senior team members and investment partnersDevelop foundational relationships with internal stakeholders and external counterpartiesCore Competencies Credit & Financial AnalysisFoundational understanding of financial statement analysis, credit metrics, and capital structuresAbility to evaluate company fundamentals, transaction terms, and downside riskFinancial Modeling & AnalyticsProficiency in Excel‑based financial and cash flow modelingExperience performing scenario and sensitivity analysisStrong Excel skills, including formulas, lookups, and data organizationInvestment Research & Portfolio SupportAbility to conduct financial, business, and industry research on borrowers, portfolio companies, and managersSupport portfolio monitoring, performance analysis, and market trend assessmentAssist in preparing investment materials, credit opinions, and internal reportsCommunication & CollaborationClear written and verbal communication skillsComfortable participating in meetings and engaging with internal stakeholders and external counterpartiesAbility to synthesize complex financial information and communicate key insightsProfessional EffectivenessStrong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and sound judgmentAbility to manage multiple priorities in a team‑oriented environmentProactive mindset with willingness to learn, take feedback, and work independently when neededTools & Systems (Preferred)Experience with Bloomberg Terminal or similar financial data platformsFamiliarity with investment analytics tools and reporting processesMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field2 years of relevant, cumulative experience (credit analysis, investment banking, asset management, accounting)Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modelingPreferred QualificationsBloomberg Terminal experiencePrior exposure to private credit or leveraged financeDemonstrated interest in investment management#ind123Employee Benefits:We aim to protect the wellbeing of our employees and their families with a broad benefits offering. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors, including but not limited to, job location, skills, and experience. The range listed is just one component of Protective’s total compensation package for employees.
