Schedule: Full-Time, Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Travel: Approximately 25% travel to company locations and field operations. Occasional after-hours or weekend response may be required for incident investigations and emergency situations.

What You’ll Do
As the EHS Transportation Manager , you will oversee Environmental, Health, and Safety programs for Mennel’s transportation operations, ensuring compliance with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulations. You’ll serve as the subject matter expert for transportation-related safety initiatives, risk mitigation, and regulatory compliance.
Your responsibilities will include:
Serving as the primary EHS resource for Mennel’s transportation division, including fleet, terminal, and maintenance operations
Administering DOT compliance programs, including driver qualification files, drug and alcohol testing, hours-of-service compliance, vehicle maintenance documentation, and audit readiness
Conducting internal DOT and safety audits to ensure compliance with FMCSA regulations and company policies
Investigating transportation-related incidents, vehicle accidents, near misses, and environmental events while implementing corrective actions
Partnering with transportation, maintenance, and operations teams to strengthen safety culture and risk awareness
Assisting in the development and delivery of transportation safety training programs
Supporting driver safety, hazardous materials handling, emergency response, and injury prevention initiatives
Ensuring environmental compliance at terminals and transportation facilities, including waste management, stormwater compliance, and fuel storage requirements
Tracking, analyzing, and reporting transportation safety KPIs and compliance metrics
Maintaining safety documentation, training records, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and compliance files
Supporting corporate EHS initiatives and serving as a liaison with regulatory agencies as needed
Monitoring regulatory changes and recommending program updates to maintain compliance
Maintaining an audit-ready environment and supporting continuous improvement efforts
Performing other duties as assigned
What We’re Looking For
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Transportation, or a related field required
Minimum of 3 years of EHS experience with a strong emphasis on transportation safety and DOT compliance preferred
Experience within food manufacturing, transportation, logistics, or fleet operations preferred
Certifications
Certified Occupational Safety Specialist (COSS) required
Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Director of Safety (CDS), or similar professional certification preferred
HAZMAT or Environmental Management certifications are a plus
Knowledge & Skills
Strong knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and EPA regulations related to transportation and fleet operations
Experience with safety management systems (SMS), EHS software, and accident investigation methodologies
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to effectively train, coach, and influence employees at all levels of the organization
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs), fleet telematics systems, and transportation compliance programs
Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills
