Paris High School / Paris Middle School Media Arts Instructor (Grades 6-12) Position Overview Paris City Schools is seeking a creative, student-centered educator to serve as a Media Arts Instructor across middle and high school grades (6-12). This position is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in digital media, visual storytelling, and creative production while preparing students for college, career, and industry pathways. The ideal candidate understands that Media Arts is not just creativity-it is communication, critical thinking, and real-world skill development aligned to the expectations of the Kentucky Department of Education. Primary Responsibilities Instruction and CurriculumDeliver instruction aligned to the Kentucky Academic Standards (KAS) for Visual and Performing Arts and Career and Technical Education pathways where applicableDesign and implement engaging units in:Digital media productionVideo editing and broadcastingGraphic design and visual communicationPhotography and digital storytellingIncorporate project-based learning (PBL) and authentic performance tasksEnsure lessons include:Clear learning targets and success criteriaStudent engagement through collaboration and discourseOpportunities for creativity and innovation Assessment and Student Growth Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progressProvide timely, actionable feedback aligned to learning standardsMaintain accurate student data and adjust instruction based on performanceSupport student development toward college and career readiness indicators Technology Integration and Media Production Teach students to effectively use industry-relevant tools and platforms for media creationPromote digital citizenship, ethical media use, and responsible technology practicesOversee school-based media initiatives such as:School announcements or broadcastingDigital portfoliosMedia coverage of school events Professional Responsibilities Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) focused on student outcomes and instructional improvementAlign instruction to High-Quality Instructional Resources (HQIR) where applicableCollaborate with staff across content areas to integrate media arts into interdisciplinary learningEngage in continuous professional growth aligned with KDE expectations and district initiatives KDE-Aligned Expectations (Non-Negotiable) The Media Arts Instructor will: Align all instruction to Kentucky Academic Standards (KAS)Demonstrate proficiency in standards-based planning, instruction, and assessmentImplement equitable instructional practices that ensure access for all learnersSupport the development of Portrait of a Learner skills:CommunicationCreativityCritical thinkingCollaborationUtilize data to inform instruction and improve student outcomesMaintain compliance with state accountability and program expectations Qualifications Required Valid Kentucky Teaching Certificate (appropriate certification in Media Arts, Art Education, or related field)Demonstrated ability to integrate technology into instructionStrong classroom management and student engagement skills Preferred Experience teaching Media Arts.
