CLERK III-Part-Time, Non-Benefited

Clerk III This is a clerical position distinguished from Clerk II by the complexity of tasks that may be assigned and the level of supervision given. The incumbent provides support services to one or more divisions of the Clerk's Office and may work independently on special projects. It is expected that incumbent will attain the level of proficiency required to act as a Deputy of the Circuit Court Clerk in designated situations.The Clerk III reports to the Chief Deputy Clerk and supervises no staff.Essential functions include serving as a passport application acceptance agent, indexing land records, handling probate and fiduciary qualification matters, and completing special projects as assigned.Working conditions include an office environment with no known hazards and the ability to maneuver record books and packages weighing up to 15 lbs.The position requires high-level clerical skills, knowledge of standard office procedures and equipment, computer literacy, and good communication skills. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with college degree or paralegal certificate preferred. Prior Clerk's Office or law firm experience or knowledge of Clerk's Office routine is preferred.Special conditions include serving at the will of the Circuit Court Clerk, a criminal records check including fingerprinting, a twelve-month probationary period, and a pre-employment typing test.
