PITCO FOODS - CLASS A DRIVERPITCO Foods is a large independent foodservice distributor in Northern California. Based in San Jose, CA, PITCO also has distribution centers in Brisbane, Oakland, and Sacramento.POSITION SUMMARY: The Class A Commercial Delivery Driver is responsible for driving a tractor-trailer, and adhering to all commercial driving regulations while delivering grocery products. PITCO Foods deliver freight between Service Centers and customers and support the selling process.JOB DESCRIPTION:Operate tractor-trailer combination, including doubles (and triples, where applicable) and/or straight trucksPerform daily pre-trip and safety inspections on equipmentHook / unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from a tractor and/or trailerPerform freight handling using appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including but not limited to forklift, pallet jack, and hand truckSecure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies, including but not limited to: pallets, straps, and ropeRecoup/repair damaged freight when necessaryVerify and complete required documentation and reportsComply with hazardous material regulations and proceduresCollect cash or checks for freight charges, as required, and maintain required documentationFollow dispatch instructions and communicate with dispatch, including but not limited to: delays, arrivals, and equipment problems, as requiredDemonstrate internal and external customer serviceCommunicate with customers to determine pick-up or delivery needs, solicit additional business, and provide leads to sales for potential new opportunitiesComply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/proceduresPerform other duties as required. MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:Must possess a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with double/triple and hazardous materials endorsementRequires two (2) years of experience utilizing an active Class A driver's licenseMust possess an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) based on hiring standardsMust meet all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulatory requirements under section 391 of the Federal Motor Carrier (FMC) regulationsAbility to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculatorMust be 18 years of age or olderBi-lingual is a plus but not requiredMust pass Drug Test and Background Check OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Basic written and verbal communication skills (documentation, communication with peers, supervisors, etc.)Ability to hook-up and break down sets of trailers that require an average lift force of about 100 pounds, several times per monthRequired bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and moving items with the need to lift and move bulky and heavy items without assistance up to 75 pounds.Ability to sit for extended periods of time, bend, twist, squat, climb in and out of the truckAbility to follow instructions and complete required trainingAbility to work independently and/or as a team member POSITION REQUIREMENTSMember Service: Exhibits a professional demeanor toward others.
