You would join an experienced international business unit structuring insurance and reinsurance solutions for risks of AI and Generative AI applications. As a Research Scientist Intern, your focus will be contributing to research on developing statistically robust quantification and assessment methodologies for AI and GenAI models. Your JobConduct independent research on statistical and methodological approaches for assessing risks associated with AI and GenAI models. Drive research projects with creativity and scientific rigor-design experiments, generate hypotheses, and proactively explore new analytical directions. Develop and test uncertaintyquantification methods, including conformal prediction, calibration techniques, predictive intervals, and other approaches relevant for AI risk assessment. Support the development of novel frameworks for estimating model risks, detecting performance drift, identifying discrimination and algorithmic harms, and characterizing AI model failure modes. Contribute to research papers with the team, summarizing key findings and conducting literature reviews for academic publication. Present research results to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders within Munich Re, as well as at academic conferences. Your ProfileCurrently pursuing a PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field. Demonstrated ability to independently drive research projects with creativity, curiosity, and scientific rigor. Strong foundation in statistical modeling, machine learning theory, and experimental design. Experience with uncertaintyquantification methods such as conformal prediction, model calibration, or related statistical techniques. Familiarity with AI/GenAI model evaluation including robustness testing, performancedrift detection, fairness and discrimination assessment, and other risk analysis. Proficiency in Python and commonly used machine learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, NumPy, Scikitlearn). Ability to synthesize research findings, conduct literature reviews, and contribute to academicstyle writing. Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas clearly to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
