Undergraduate Instruction Librarian
Position SummaryThe University Library at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks an engaged and collaborative Undergraduate Instruction Librarian to join our staff.Reporting to the Undergraduate Teaching and Learning Librarian, the Undergraduate Instruction Librarian supports core instruction and research programs geared towards incoming undergraduate students. This three-year time-limited position is responsible for scheduling incoming instruction requests, designing, and delivering information literacy sessions to the First Year Writing Program in collaboration with course instructors and provides supporting research consultations. The Undergraduate Instruction Librarian collaborates with teammates to train and mentor graduate instructors from the School of Information and Library Science. Additionally, this position engages undergraduate students by participating in established outreach events and collaborating with key campus partners.Primary Purpose of Organizational UnitThe University and The LibraryThe University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is the country’s oldest state university. The mountains or the seashore are less than a half day’s drive from Chapel Hill.Required Qualifications, Competencies & ExperienceMaster’s degree in library science from an ALA-accredited program or equivalent.Experience teaching or providing library instruction and providing user-centered research services.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students.Familiarity with instructional technologies and online learning platforms.Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.Preferred QualificationsCoursework in Education.Experience working with high school students or first-year students.Salary & BenefitsThis is a three-year time-limited, at-will librarian appointment. Standard state benefits include annual leave, sick leave, and State or optional retirement. The salary range for the Undergraduate Instruction Librarian position begins at $52,429.
