Job Description:
Pain Management Physician (DO) – Skilled Nursing Facility, Medication Management & OMT (Rounding 1-2 Times per Week)
We are seeking a board-certified Osteopathic Physician (DO) to lead a pain management program in a skilled nursing facility (SNF). This role integrates medication management with osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) and involves rounding 1-2 times per week to provide patient-centered care for chronic and acute pain in elderly and rehabilitative patients.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct rounds 1-2 times per week at the skilled nursing facility to assess and manage pain, utilizing both medication management and OMT.
Develop individualized pain management plans, incorporating OMT techniques such as balanced ligamentous tension (BLT), Still, and Functional methods.
Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including physical exams, medication reviews, and pain evaluations, tailored to the needs of SNF patients.
Monitor and adjust medication regimens, focusing on opioid-sparing strategies and safe medication use for elderly patients.
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, including nurses, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals, to provide coordinated care.
Educate patients, families, and facility staff on pain management options, highlighting the role of OMT and proper medication use in long-term care.
Maintain detailed and accurate patient records in compliance with regulatory standards.
Participate in care plan meetings, case reviews, and interdisciplinary team discussions to optimize patient outcomes.
Stay informed about the latest advancements in pain management, OMT techniques, and non-pharmacologic therapies for elderly care.
Qualifications:
Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO).
Board certification in Pain Medicine or a related specialty.
Expertise in OMT, with proficiency in BLT, Still, and Functional techniques.
Strong understanding of pain management protocols and geriatric care in a skilled nursing setting.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with an interdisciplinary team.
