Paint Line - Technical Service Representative – Industrial Coatings(Southeast)

Role Overview: We are seeking someone with great experience working on a Industrial Pain line. You will use this experience to be a Technical Service Representative to support our growing customer base across the Southeast. Unlike traditional "sales support" roles, this position is designed for an expert who has spent years on the production floor. You aren't just there to watch; you are there to audit, troubleshoot, and optimize.The ideal candidate has a deep mechanical and chemical understanding of how a paint line runs. You should be comfortable adjusting gun settings and oven temperatures.Key Responsibilities:On-Site Process Optimization: Conduct comprehensive audits of customer paint lines to identify inefficiencies and improve throughput for both liquid and powder coating operations.Root Cause Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve finish defects (cratering, orange peel, adhesion failure, etc.) by analyzing the entire process—from pretreatment and titration to application and cure.Line Start-up & Conversion: Lead the implementation of new coating systems, ensuring equipment is dialed in and the customer’s team is fully trained on application techniques.Technical Advocacy: Act as the "voice of the customer" to our internal R&D and Lab teams to ensure product formulations meet the rigorous demands of real-world production environments.Training & Safety: Provide hands-on training for customer painters and supervisors on equipment maintenance, safety protocols (including respirator fitment), and application best practices.Required Experience & Qualifications:The "Line" Experience: 5+ years of direct experience operating or managing a high-volume industrial paint line. You must have "seen it all" regarding liquid (solvent/waterborne) and powder applications.Technical Mastery: Proficient in the mechanics of application equipment (electrostatic, airless, air-assisted, etc.) and the chemistry of multi-stage pretreatment systems.Problem Solver: Proven ability to troubleshoot complex finish issues on the fly and implement corrective actions that stick.Communication: Ability to explain technical concepts to both floor-level operators and executive-level stakeholders.Travel: Ability and willingness to travel ~50% throughout the Southeast region to support customer sites.Technical Proficiencies:Deep knowledge of 1K and 2K liquid systems, including high-solids and water-reducible technologies.Expertise in powder coating application, including reclaim systems, Faraday cage challenges, and cure cycle optimization.Experience with testing equipment (gloss meters, mil gauges, cross-hatch adhesion, etc.).Physical Requirements:Must be able to navigate industrial manufacturing environments, including climbing stairs/ladders and working around heat-generating equipment (ovens).Must be able to wear required PPE, including respiratory protection (requires being clean-shaven for proper seal).
