Field Service Welder/ Fabricator/ Multi-craft
Duties & ResponsibilitiesCreate welds in accordance with drawings, specifications, applicable codes and standards, etc., and have welds meet acceptability criteria in accordance with ASME Sec IX acceptance criteria and customer specificationsPrepare components to be welded by utilizing appropriate power and hand toolsWork as a multi-craft mechanical resource within the Field Services team, with typical work scopes including (but not limited to):Rotating equipment removal and installationRotating equipment baseplate removal and installationRotating equipment maintenance activitiesPiping removal and installationValve removal and installationRotating equipment pedestal (concrete, grout, etc.) construction and/or replacementPerform minor maintenance and cleaning activities of tools and equipmentObserve and comply with all safety and environmental rules and requirements and all applicable company and customer policies and proceduresPerform other duties as requiredCertifications, Education And ExperienceAssociate Degree or trade school certification in craft preferred, but equivalent experience in welding and general mechanical maintenance/projects/turnarounds will be consideredStrong, hands-on background in welding of plate, piping (including small bore) and structural components, including carbon steel and stainless steel (where applicable), using GTAW, GMAW, SMAW and FCAW welding processes and equipment, with GTAW and SMAW being the most commonly utilizedGeneral knowledge of mechanical maintenance/project tasks including boilermaker activities, pipefitting, flange make-up and bolt torquing, etc.General knowledge of millwright activities including (but not limited to) rotating equipment installation, bearing installation/replacement, seal installation/replacement, shaft alignment, etc.Minimum 3 years of industrial welding experience desired, but will consider lesser experience depending upon individualCompetenciesIntegrityBehaving ethicallyActing fairlyTaking responsibilityProfessionalismDemonstrating self-controlProfessional appearanceMaintains a positive attitude.InitiativePersistingTaking initiativeSetting challenging goalsWorking independentlyAchievement motivationAbility to relate to authorityRelates well to superiors and learns from supervisors who coach appropriately and provide the opportunity for advancementCritical & Analytic ThinkingReasoningMental agilityTeamworkAcknowledging team membership and roleEstablishing productive relationshipsIdentifying with the team and its goalsResolving conflictsAdaptability & FlexibilityEmploying unique analysesEntertaining new ideasDealing with ambiguityReadingComprehensionAttention to detailPLEASE NOTE: John H Carter Company is not accepting unsolicited assistance from search firms/employment agencies for this employment opportunity.
