Director of Clinical Operations
Position Description: The Director of Clinical Operations will serve as a subject matter expert in the end-to-end clinical delivery of cell and gene therapies. This role is focused on applying a real world understanding of how therapies are operationalized to build scalable, repeatable processes across partner health systems.What You Will Do: Clinical Workflow Expertise & DesignServe as an expert on commercialized cell and gene therapies, including CAR-T, gene therapies, and RNA-based therapiesMap and optimize end-to-end patient journeys from referral through post-treatment follow-upDesign and implement best-in-class clinical workflows across partner health systemsIdentify bottlenecks and implement scalable process improvements to address patient throughput and turn-around times Site-of-Care & Hospital Operations IntegrationEvaluate bottlenecks across the patient journey in apheresis scheduling, infusion center capacity, interventional radiology access and other choke points in the processPartner with hospitals to align workflows across inpatient and outpatient settingsPartner with health system to build all aspects of outpatient care delivery across CAR-T, BiTEs and other advanced therapies. These facets can include bed escalation policies, outpatient drug purchasing protocols, patient monitoring protocols, capability for outpatient administration of products to control CRS and ICANS and other requirements as necessaryTherapy-Specific Operational & Reimbursement KnowledgeMaintain expertise in therapy-specific administration requirements and site-of-care dynamicsUnderstand reimbursement pathways including Medicare, commercial payers, and manufacturer programs on a per drug basisAlign clinical workflows with financial clearance and reimbursement processes to ensure broad access for patientsProgram Implementation & OptimizationSupport launch of new therapy programs and develop therapy-specific process flowsTrack and improve KPIs such as time to treatment and capacity utilizationIdentify and resolve operational gaps across partner sitesLiaise with manufacturers and product onboarding team on all clinical and operational workflows related to new therapy activationEnsure accurate, organized, and consistent data tracking throughout the patient journey to support quality and data management initiatives.Cross-Functional LeadershipCollaborate with operational leaders from SAT and clinical/administrative stakeholders at the health system partners to deliver a best-in-class care for patients and clinical teams Serve as a bridge between hospital teams and internal business unitsDrive alignment across multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless executionWhat You Need:BA/BS degree required5–10 years of experience in cell and gene therapy program management in an academic medical center settingDirect experience with CAR-T and/or gene therapy delivery workflowsDeep understanding of clinical delivery models, including apheresis, infusion centers, and interventional radiology workflowsFamiliarity with academic medical center environmentsKnowledge of reimbursement pathways including Medicare, commercial payers, and therapy-specific financial structuresAbility to translate complex clinical processes into structured, scalable workflowsStrong stakeholder management skills across clinical and administrative teamsSystems thinker with strong operational intuition and attention to detailAbility to operate in a fast-paced, evolving environment with a high degree of ambiguityAbility to lead clinical and operational stakeholder meetingsHighly organized & detail orientedIntellectual horsepowerEntrepreneurial problem solver who can create structureCompensationThe base salary range for this role is $175,000–$225,000, commensurate with experience and level. This role is eligible for an annual performance bonus in addition to base salary, based on achievement of role objectives and key performance metrics.
