Release Manager

Position Title: Release Manager Location: Remote (In the U.S)Other Considerations:U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (Required)This position is contingent upon contract award.POSITION SUMMARYWe are seeking a Release Manager to be responsible for the planning, execution, and oversight of a strategic program with the Department of Veterans Affairs covering over millions of veteran users. This role will involve working with cross-functional teams, managing resources, mitigating risks, and ensuring the successful delivery of programs aligned with business objectives. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, along with a proven track record of managing complex programs from inception to completion.RESPONSIBILITIESDefine release scope with product owners and development teamsManage release timelines, milestones, and code freeze datesEnsure documentation requirementsmeet release criteriaCoordinate testing to ensure release isready for deploymentPrepare rollback plans andvalidatethe plan with the development teamInitiatereleasebuild and verify buildartifactsCommunicate release statusand reportto stakeholdersregardingdeployment and stability QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related scientific/technical discipline. An additional 8 years of relevant experience may be substituted for the required education.Minimum of 10 years of experience managing software, hardware, or system component releases.Significant experience with VA Enterprise Cloud (AWS GovCloud + Azure Gov) and ServiceNow ITSM are requiredStrong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple releases concurrentlyProven track record coordinating across cross-functional teams including QA, Development, Packaging, and HardwareAttention to detail in documenting release schedules, dependencies, and risk assessmentsStrong communication skills for stakeholder coordination and status reportingProactive in identifying and resolving scheduling conflicts or risks that may impact release deliveryAbility to work under pressure and manage tight deadlines effectivelyFamiliarity with release automation tools, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practicesDemonstrated ability to implement and refine release governance and standard operating proceduresExperience with enterprise change management and version control systemsPreferred:ITIL Foundation or higher (Information Technology Infrastructure Library)Certified Release Manager (CRM)PMP (Project Management Professional)SAFeRelease Train Engineer (RTE)AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - ProfessionalCertified ScrumMaster (CSM)WORKING CONDITIONSStandard Business hours are Monday through Friday.
