Job DescriptionOur client, a growing, well-established mid-sized company, is seeking a hands-on Controller to lead its accounting function. This is a highly visible role that will partner closely with senior leadership and play an important part in strengthening processes, reporting, and financial operations as the company continues to grow.The ideal candidate is a strong technical accountant who also enjoys being close to the business. This person will oversee the day-to-day accounting function while providing leadership, improving processes, and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.ResponsibilitiesLead and manage the accounting function, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and month-end closeOversee the preparation of timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statementsOwn the month-end and year-end close process, including account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial analysisMaintain a strong internal control environment and ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standardsPartner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial planningSupport annual audit and tax processes, coordinating with outside auditors and advisors as neededIdentify opportunities to streamline processes, improve reporting, and enhance the use of systems and technologyDevelop and mentor accounting team members while building scalable processes for the futureServe as a key business partner to leaders across operations, finance, and executive managementQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related fieldCPA strongly preferred8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including meaningful experience in a Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or similar leadership roleStrong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and close processesExperience working in a mid-sized company or similarly hands-on environmentPrior experience managing and developing accounting staffStrong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both finance and non-finance stakeholdersAdvanced Excel skills and experience with ERP/accounting systemsDetail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable balancing strategic priorities with day-to-day executionThis is an excellent opportunity for a thoughtful, collaborative accounting leader who wants to have real impact within a growing organization.
