CADD Technician
Job Title: CADD Technician IILocation: Salt Lake City, UT Duration: Until May 2027 (with a possibility of extension)Summary:We are seeking a detail-oriented CADD Technician II to support gas distribution and pipeline infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will prepare piping/mechanical fabrication drawings, civil site and grading plans, and pipeline alignment/profile drawings for construction and maintenance activities. This role involves coordination with engineering, construction, and external stakeholders while utilizing AutoCAD-based drafting tools.Key Responsibilities:Prepare simple to intermediate-level piping/mechanical fabrication drawings and civil site/grading plans.Develop pipeline alignment and profile drawings for gas distribution projects including gate stations, meter and regulator stations, and related pipeline appurtenances.Coordinate assigned projects and provide drawing review support and status updates.Assist internal and external customers with drawings, pipeline data, and facility information.Conduct facility data research for modifications to existing gas facilities.Provide mapping and gas facility information to engineering, construction, government agencies, Blue Stakes, and external engineering firms.Interpret field notes, surveys, and as-built documentation.Work under the direction of supervisors and senior designers while exercising initiative and independent judgment.Support additional drafting and design-related duties as assigned.Required Skills & QualificationsAssociate degree or certification in Computer Aided Design & Drafting from an accredited institution OR equivalent professional experience.0–2+ years of professional CAD drafting/design experience.Proficiency in:AutoCADAutoCAD Plant 3D and/or Civil 3DVehicle TrackingAutodesk VaultMicrosoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)Adobe Acrobat ProExperience with CADWorx P&ID is a plus.Understanding of:Distribution pipeline facility drawings and alignment sheetsPiping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)Property rights-of-way and surveying principlesBasic algebra, geometry, and trigonometryAbility to interpret field notes, surveys, and as-built documentation.Strong communication skills and attention to detail.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.Work Environment & ConditionsOccasional overtime, weekends, and holiday work may be required to meet project deadlines.Prolonged use of CAD systems and computer equipment.Field visits to company facilities with occasional overnight travel.Outdoor work in varying weather conditions and uneven terrain.Requires mobility, hand dexterity, and ability to safely navigate field environments.Additional RequirementsValid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.Regular attendance and ability to work approved schedules.Ability to meet project deadlines and maintain drafting quality standards.Compliance with company policies, including business ethics, FERC, and DOT regulations.
