The OpportunityVelazquez Pain Relief Center is hiring a Medical Assistant for our pain management clinics and our ASC. Assignments are based on each MA's skills, certifications, and interests — so if procedural and preoperative care excite you, you'll spend more of your week in the surgery center; if patient relationships, intake work, and prior authorizations are your strength, you'll spend more of your time in the clinic.This role is open as full-time or part-time. We will work with the right candidate on a schedule that fits.What You'll Do — In the ClinicWelcome patients warmly, perform intake and initial assessment, document vitals, current medications, allergies, history, and pain scoresPull radiology images and reports, lab results, prior records, and any outside documentation the provider needs before the visitCollect urine drug screens per practice policy and chain-of-custody requirementsProvide accurate, concise patient summaries to the provider before they enter the roomHelp patients complete intake paperwork and consent forms; explain forms clearly and patientlyCoordinate with pharmacies on refills, clarifications, and prior-authorization-related callbacksInitiate, follow up on, and close out medication prior authorizationsSubmit and track outgoing referrals to specialists, imaging, and physical therapyWork closely with our Personal Injury and Workers' Compensation departments to keep documentation, authorizations, and updates movingMaintain a clean, sanitary, organized clinical environment — patient safety first, every timeWhat You'll Do — In the Ambulatory Surgery CenterPrepare patients for interventional pain procedures, including chart review, vitals, and pre-procedure checksPlace peripheral IVs and prepare patients for the procedure roomAssist in pre-op and PACU under the direction of the procedural and nursing teamDischarge patients with clear, written post-procedure instructions and follow-up informationMaintain par levels of supplies; turn over rooms quickly while staying meticulousUphold facility cleanliness, sanitation, and sterility standards consistent with ASC and AAAHC / state requirementsPrioritize patient safety at every stepWhat We're Looking ForRequiredHigh school diploma or equivalentCompletion of an accredited Medical Assistant program OR equivalent supervised clinical experienceCurrent BLS certification (or willingness to obtain before start date)Comfortable taking vitals, performing standard MA clinical tasks, and (for ASC assignments) placing peripheral IVs — or willingness to be trainedStrong written, verbal, and phone communication skillsAbility to maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance at all timesPreferredCCMA, RMA, or CMA certificationOne or more years of medical assistant experience, ideally in pain management, orthopedics, PM&R, neurosurgery, or a surgical specialtyPrior experience with medication prior authorizations and outgoing referralsFamiliarity with Workers' Compensation and Personal Injury patient workflows (Nevada DIR, lien-based care, etc.)Pre-op, PACU, or ASC experienceEMR proficiencyBilingual English/Spanish a strong plusWhy You'll Like Working HereVariety.
