Our mission is to deliver the highest quality professional services while prioritizing our employees' well-being and fostering an exceptional workplace environment.OverviewWhat You Will DoThe Project Accountant is responsible for managing the financial performance of construction projects, supporting one or more Account Managers. This role partners closely with Account Managers and Project Managers to oversee project budgets, track costs, manage billing, and ensure accurate financial reporting.This position plays a key role in maintaining financial accuracy, supporting project profitability, and ensuring compliance with company policies and contractual requirements.A Typical Day at Prime ControlsProject Financial ManagementSet up new projects and budgets within the accounting systemMonitor project costs, budgets, and overall profitabilityTrack job costs including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor expensesIdentify cost overruns and communicate financial risks to project teamsBilling & Revenue RecognitionPrepare and process project billings in the accounting system (e.g., Acumatica), including AIA, time & materials, and progress billingSupport change order preparation and ensure accurate financial recordingTrack revenue recognition based on project progress and company policiesEnsure timely and accurate invoicing to clientsPartner with Accounts Receivable on collections and lien compliance, including processing required notices and documentationAccounts Payable & Subcontractor ManagementReview vendor and subcontractor invoices for accuracy and alignment with contracts and budgetsVerify invoices against purchase orders and project financialsManage lien waivers and ensure compliance documentation is completeProject ReportingPrepare and maintain monthly project financial reports, including:Job cost reportsWork-in-progress (WIP) reportsReview forecasts for accuracy and analyze cost-to-completeSupport monthly close activities related to project accountingCollaboration & SupportPartner with Project Managers and Account Managers to review financial performanceAssist with forecasting and budget adjustmentsSupport internal audits and financial reviewsCompliance & DocumentationEnsure compliance with contractual requirements and accounting standardsMaintain accurate and organized project financial recordsWhat You Will BringThe BasicEducationBachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field preferredExperience3–7 years of accounting experience, preferably within construction or project-based environmentsExperience with job cost accounting and construction billingSkillsStrong understanding of construction accounting and job costingProficiency with accounting systems (e.g., Acumatica or similar ERP systems)Advanced Microsoft Excel skillsStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skillsAbility to communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholdersThe PreferredExperience working with general contractors or specialty subcontractorsKnowledge of WIP reporting and percentage-of-completion accountingExperience managing multiple projects simultaneouslyBenefitsWhat We OfferFull-time employees enjoy a great benefits package including, but not limited to:Health, Dental, and Vision coverage Flexible Spending Account(s) Generous PTO ESOP Program Numerous company events 401k matching and more!
