Fremont County School District Number 25Riverton, WyomingElementary Teacher (SPED)Anticipated VacancyLocation: Rendezvous Elementary SchoolReports to: Building PrincipalSupervises: NoneApproved/Revised Date: July 17, 2024REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:* Bachelor's degree in job related area* Wyoming PTSB certification appropriate for the subject and grade level or bothPOSITION SUMMARYTo provide quality instructional services to children with disabilities according to the child's IndividualEducational Program.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIESBe familiar with and abide by school district policies and to stay current in changes in such policies through procedures described by the Board.Establish and foster a cooperative working relationship with the staff of the building to which the teacher is assigned, as well as with other District personnel.Exercise mature and professional judgment in teaching and in associations with staff and students.Participate in professional activities as part of the teaching assignment.Demonstrate high standards of professionalism and ethical conduct.Maintain confidentiality of information regarding colleagues, students, and parents.Maintain current PTSB certification in appropriate teaching area(s).Maintain adequate and current knowledge of developments within the respective teaching areas and within the areas of instruction and learning.Teach the District standards in the assigned area, utilize effective planning for each day's teaching-learning activities, clarify goal and objectives of lessons and assignments, diagnose and prescribe for student academic and effective strengths and weaknesses, evaluate student progress and achievement, and continually seek to motivate students for the learning tasks at hand.Provide for reasonable care and safety of students who are assigned to them at all times.Responsible for the daily safekeeping of students in their charge; must have ability to safely escort assigned students off school premises or otherwise manage students while in emergency situations. This includes following all appropriate crisis management protocols used by the District.Provide proper care and reasonable security for all District property in their custody.Seek to establish a school climate, which will promote appropriate student discipline. Consistently supports and assists the building staff in maintaining order and discipline among students.Actively participates in Professional Learning Community discussions at grade and subject levels.Utilizes instructional materials and other educational resources in a competent and effective manner.Makes use of technology for instructional purposes as well as for record keeping, administrative and other non-instructional uses as may be required.Diagnose and evaluate specific students' needs as needed or requested.Design appropriate goals, objectives and timelines for appropriate special education services for eligible students.Plan and implement a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities within the district curriculum as well as the Individualized Education Program for the student.Monitor and document student progress and communicate progress with appropriate students, staff, parents, and other members of the school based team(s).Complete and submit in a professional and timely manner appropriate academic evaluations as assigned.Collaborate with regular classroom teachers, other specialty teachers, and related service providers in the development of a variety of strategies to meet the educational needs of special education students.Follow time schedules, attend and participate in all assigned meetings, and maintain a positive professional manner with students, parents, and staff.Maintain confidentiality standards as defined by local, state, and federal rules and regulations.Other duties as assigned.TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLSProvides classroom instruction and applies assessment instrumentsPrepares and maintains accurate records.Possesses knowledge to perform the instruction of all assigned content areas, read technical curriculum information, compose a variety of documents, participate and/or facilitate group discussionsKnowledgeable in appropriate codes, policies, regulations and/or laws, age appropriate activities, lesson plan requirements, stages of child development, and behavioral management strategiesSchedules activities, meetings, and/or eventsFlexible to work with others in a wide variety of circumstancesWorks with a diversity of individuals and/or groups and a wide variety of dataEstablishes and maintains constructive relationshipsAdapts to changing work prioritiesMaintains confidentialityExhibits tact and patienceWorks flexible hoursPossesses strong oral and written communication skillsWorks independently with little direct supervisionWorks as part of a teamAccepts responsibility and is self-motivatedDemonstrates strong work ethic to achieve District goalsDisplays effective multitasking and time management skillsLANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read and interpret documents such as policies and regulations, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.EVALUATIONPerformance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of certified or classified personnel.SALARY SCHEDULEThis position will be paid according to the approved Certified Teacher Wage Schedule.$49,200-$76,700TERMS OF EMPLOYMENTDesignated by Contract unless otherwise assigned by supervisor.
