CONSTRUCTION ENGINEER – HEAVY CIVIL & GEOTECHNICALEmployment: Full-time, salariedTravel: Regional project travel throughout Virginia, Maryland and Washington, DCTHE OPPORTUNITYA nationally respected heavy civil contractor is seeking an early-career Construction Engineer who wants meaningful field experience, mentorship and a clear path for advancement.You will work alongside experienced project managers, engineers and field leaders on complex heavy civil, structural, roadway and geotechnical foundation projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent engineering graduate or developing construction professional who wants exposure to both technical engineering and field operations.WHAT YOU WILL DO• Develop short-term work plans and three-week construction schedules with field supervision• Review drawings, specifications, shop drawings, RFIs and submittals• Coordinate with project managers, inspectors, subcontractors, engineers and vendors• Track quantities, production rates, labor, equipment and material costs• Help resolve field conditions, design discrepancies and construction challenges• Support project safety, quality-control and environmental requirements• Assist with pay estimates, document control, utility coordination and project closeout• Participate in testing involving piles, soil nails, tiebacks and other foundation systems• Gain exposure to HeavyJob, HeavyBid, Viewpoint, OnBase and CADWHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR• Approximately 0–4 years of construction, civil, structural or geotechnical engineering experience• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Engineering or a related discipline preferred• Internships, co-ops and relevant project experience will be considered• Interest in heavy civil construction, roadways, structures or geotechnical foundations• Ability to understand construction plans, specifications and technical documentation• Strong communication, organization and problem-solving skills• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to regional project sites• Comfortable working in active outdoor construction environmentsCOMPENSATION AND BENEFITS• $60,000–$75,000 salary based on experience• Medical, dental and vision insurance• 401(k) with company contribution• Company-paid disability and life insurance• Paid time off and eight paid holidays• Tuition reimbursement and professional development• Wellness and employee-assistance programs• Adoption assistanceIf you are an engineering graduate or early-career professional who wants to build a long-term career in heavy civil construction, apply today for a confidential conversation.
