Water Resources Engineer IV

Join our team and you will help provide engineering solutions on major infrastructure improvements across the Midwest for various DOT's, counties, and municipalities.An Engineer IV may work on several projects at one time. Tasks performed require broad knowledge of fundamentals relating to design and/or construction while under some direction, but no immediate supervision is needed, as typically required for a licensed professional. An Engineer IV may be assigned to develop preliminary engineering studies and reports on parts of those, prepare design plans and specifications, and lead field inspections.Responsibilities:Hydrologic and hydraulic analysis of floodplains and floodways, including bridge and culvert crossings; Analysis of flood problem areas to identify problems, develop alternative solutions, and design recommended alternatives; Stormwater system analysis and design for municipal and roadway projects, including conveyance, storage, and stormwater quality best management practices. Includes design calculations/models, report and plan preparation, quantity calculations, construction details, specifications, cost estimates, and other related tasks; Design of soil erosion and sediment control practices; The candidate will manage other engineers and technicians to achieve completion of project plans, as directed by the Project Manager, but may also complete certain tasks independently; Work closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects; Review and check engineering work completed by others; Maintain positive client and vendor relationships; Mentor staff engineers; Will report to our Principal – Water Resources.Required Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering; Master’s degree a plus;6-10 years of water resources experience; Illinois and/or Indiana Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred;Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) a plus;Microstation proficiency; AutoCad experience a plus;Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic models, including HEC-RAS and SWMM;Experience on municipal and/or highway drainage design projects.Strong technical skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills; Ability to work independently and lead small teams on tasks while collaborating with other disciplines and managers.Excellent organizational and time management abilities.Strong leadership and teamwork capabilities.Advanced decision-making and problem-solving skills.Ability to multitask effectively and lead coordination with other disciplines.
