Job Description
Rate: $60,000 - $80,000
Summary (Position Description): BITZER Scroll Inc. has an opening at its Syracuse location for a Project Engineer in the Scroll Compressor Product Development department. This position will have the responsibility of assisting in the engineering design, development, and production support activities of commercial HVAC compressors. The position will support the Engineering team that develops new Bitzer products for Commercial market segments within the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Industries.
Reports To: Director of Scroll Engineering
Status: Exempt – Full Time
Key Responsibilities:
Perform associated duties of a Project Engineer in the engineering department. Candidate must be capable of working independently in a multifunctional engineering role including, but not limited to, design activities, working with suppliers, oversee qualification testing, compile data, and generate engineering reports.
Weighted Essential Duties and Tasks:
Perform engineering design tasks as assigned
· Perform required engineering calculations and analysis
· Execute prescribed testing and data collection on compressors and components
· Analyze data and generate engineering reports based on results
Provide BITZER factory support of scroll compressor products
· Process Engineering Change Notifications for new product launches or product changes
· Maintain Engineering Drawings and Specifications
· Support Purchasing Department on supplier selection
· Evaluate and disposition out-of-specification production material
· Maintain Product Engineering procedures in support of ISO 9001;2015
Technology and Work Exposure:
Thermodynamics, Vapor Compression Refrigeration.
Cast Iron and Aluminum castings and machined parts.
Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
New Product Development
Engineering procedures, data collection, and report generation.
Exposure to Manufacturing Environment.
Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):
Knowledge of and engineering experience with rotating equipment, specifically refrigeration compressors, a plus
Familiarity with reading mechanical engineering drawings and functional understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances
Experience with metal castings and machined components.
Understanding of Thermodynamics of the vapor-compression refrigeration systems
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and communication of technical information in engineering reports
PC skills are required. Microsoft applications. Unigraphics NX Software experience a plus
Capable of international travel
Requirements:
· Bachelor or Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering degree with 3 - 5 years of experience
Work Environment:
· This job is performed in a professional office environment and a manufacturing environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
Physical Demands:
· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; bend; stoop; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
