Protective Security Officer Hartford, CTThis position is under the direct supervision of the Project Manager and is responsible for the protection, safeguarding, and security of assets, personnel, customers, and all visitors.Essential FunctionsRead and understand the English language to effectively carry out applied printed rules, detailed orders, instructions, and training materials. Have a command of both the written and spoken English language to properly communicate in person or via electronic devices (telephone and radio) with co-workers and the general public. The ability to maintain a professional, tactful and courteous demeanor under stressful situations security personnel routinely encounter. Be able to compose precise short paragraphs, written reports, and other reports in the English language as necessary.Job DutiesPerforms security patrolsEnforces access control proceduresProtects property from theft, embezzlement, sabotage, fire, and accidentsInvestigates and write reports on accidents, incidents, suspicious activities, safety and fire hazards, and other security-related situationsAssist customers, employees, and visitors in following the department's proceduresMay perform other related duties as assigned by a security Lieutenant and/or security Project ManagerRequirementsMinimum Candidate QualificationsMust be a Lawful Permanent Resident who is currently a member of, or who possesses a verifiable honorable discharge from, any component of the United States Armed Forces OR a U.S. CitizenMust have been issued a Social Security Card by the Social Security AdministrationMust be 21 years of ageMust be a high school/GED graduateMust have one of the following:2 years of armed security experience or law enforcement OR 2 years of military service (active duty or reserve) with an honorable dischargeAdditional Eligibility Qualifications:The applicant must submit to a pre-employment medical exam and drug screening.The applicant must be able to pass an NLIC / State / Local Background check and Credit check (as applicable).Favorable FPS Fitness Determination (Suitability)State License40 Hour Initial Weapons36 Hour Basic TrainingTri-Annual Refresher TrainingMEBOCFirst Aid, CPR, AEDFPS OrientationFPS NWDTPFPS Firearms QualificationAvailable SchedulesDay Shift * Evening Shift * Third ShiftPay Rate$34.76 per hour *$1.00 per hour premium for posts requiring Top Secret ClearanceBenefitsEligible employees may enroll in the available medical, dental, and vision coverage plans.
