Billing/Parts Journeyman MechanicThe Journeyman, Billing/Parts, is responsible for supporting daily billing operations as a detail-oriented billing and parts journeymen, ensuring accurate work order entry, invoicing, and cost tracking across multiple systems. Reviews and validates documentation for labor, parts, and vendor services, reconciles discrepancies, and assists with warranty claims and audits. Collaborates with mechanics and foremen to confirm work performed, prepare estimates, and maintain accurate service records. Additionally supports the parts room by maintaining the parts database, issuing parts to mechanics, and helping manage inventory, vendor relationships, and material tracking for equipment and chassis repairs.Essential Duties:Accurately enter work orders into multiple customer billing systems in a timely mannerReview, interpret, and validate work orders to ensure accurate billing and proper documentationProcess and manage billing for repairs, maintenance, and related services, including billing to vessel lines and customersEnsure accurate coding of labor, parts, and external vendor costsVerify that all parts used are properly recorded and billedCreate invoices based on mechanics' estimated labor hours, parts usage, and completed workGenerate invoices and track receivables as neededMaintain detailed records of work orders, costs, and service historyReconcile discrepancies between parts usage, labor, and billingReview handwritten mechanic work orders and translate them into accurate system entries and billing documentationPrepare estimates for repairs based on mechanic notes, parts, and labor requirementsManage warranty claims and reimbursement processes, including identifying eligible repairs, submitting claims, tracking, and follow-upEnsure proper documentation and compliance for all warranty claims to maximize cost recoveryAssist with audits, reporting, and internal reviews related to billing accuracy and work ordersIdentify and resolve discrepancies between work orders, parts usage, and billing recordsCoordinate with mechanics and Working Foremen to clarify work performed and ensure accurate billing and estimatesParts:Order, receive, and track parts and supplies for chassis and equipment repairsMaintain working knowledge of parts inventory systems (Trimble) and commonly used componentsUpdate parts inventory system as parts are used/restocked, including current pricingIssue parts to mechanics for repair jobs and accurately document usageMonitor inventory levels and ensure adequate stock of frequently used partsMonitor vendor pricing and lead times to ensure cost efficiencyBuild and maintain relationships with parts suppliers and service vendorsNegotiate pricing and identify cost-saving opportunitiesTrack and report on parts usage, spend, and trendsWork with vendors to source parts as neededConduct regular inventory audits and cycle countsCoordinate with mechanics and Working Foremen to anticipate parts needsCoordinate logistics for urgent or specialty partsAdditional Responsibilities include the following:Comply with Corporate Safety and IAM Collective Bargaining AgreementThis position description generally describes the principal functions of the position, the level of knowledge and skills typically required and the general scope of responsibility. Experience, Certifications, Credentials):Four years of relevant education, seven years of applicable billing experience, or an equivalent combination of bothStrong understanding of mechanical parts and maintenance operations within the marine terminal industry preferredExperience with maintenance or mechanic billing systems, including processing warranty claims and preparing estimatesAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft OfficeStrong attention to detail, with excellent organizational skills and accuracy and speed in data entry.Knowledge of ThermoKing, StarCool, Daikin, and Carrier parts preferredParts room experience and understanding of parts and mechanical terminology preferredSelected candidate will be required to be a member of the IAM Union and will be governed by the applicable bargaining unit agreement.TWIC Card or ability to obtain one.Valid Drivers License.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:Be able to communicate well, both verbal and writtenWork as directed by General ForemanMaintain positive attitude amongst colleagues and terminal personnelStay focused under high-pressure situationsPhysical Working Conditions:Requires the full use of the person's hands, arms, and legsMust be physically able to work from gangways, stools, ladders, scissor lifts, and reach all without being afraid of heightsUpper body strength to be able to lift heavier parts such as compressors and evaporator coils up to 50 lbsAbility to stand, sits, squatting when necessaryAbility to see and hear fast moving equipmentAble to work all hours 7 days a weekBenefits:One of Husky's core values is People First.
