Recovery Support Specialist- Community Support Team

POSITION OVERVIEW:Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Recovery Support Specialist (RSS) plays a vital role in supporting individuals experiencing mental health challenges. The RSS promotes recovery, provides person-centered assistance, and collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to help individuals develop effective action plans. Candidates must have lived experience as a consumer of mental health and/or substance use services. Community Support Team (CST) services focus on reducing hospitalizations and crises while increasing community functioning. These services aim to support rehabilitation, resilience, and recovery through skill building, illness self-management, adaptive strategies, use of natural supports, and community resource navigation. Services are primarily delivered in natural settings based on the individual’s needs. Salary: $22.00 per hourLocation: DuPage/Northlake, Villa ParkShift: Variable weekday; 2 evening shifts per week REPORTS TO:  Director of CST Services  NETWORK OR DEPARTMENT:  Network 4 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  Provide support to individuals experiencing mental health crisesDeliver services in natural settings aligned with individual needsFacilitate the development of action plans to ensure safety and stabilityAssist individuals in identifying strengths, wellness goals, and barriers to recoveryModel healthy coping techniques, self-help strategies, and self-care practicesSupport individuals in creating a Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) or Peer-to-Peer planRecognize high-risk indicators and take appropriate actionEncourage self-advocacy to combat stigma and build empowerment skillsConduct outreach and follow-up with individuals as neededMaintain accurate service documentation SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  Proficiency with basic computer programs for documentationStrong verbal and written communication skillsEffective teaching ability and empathetic listening skillsAbility to maintain a non-judgmental and supportive demeanor PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  Lift up to 40 pounds unassisted from floor to waistPush/pull up to 75 pounds; push wheelchairs up to 200 poundsPerform physical tasks such as squatting, stooping, crouching, and kneelingSit or stand for extended periods    QUALIFICATIONS:  Lived experience with mental health and/or substance use recoveryHigh School Diploma or GED (higher education preferred)Experience participating in or facilitating support groupsCurrent Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) certification or willingness to obtainCurrent WRAP certification or willingness to obtainBENEFITS:Health, Vision, Dental, and Life insuranceEducational AssistancePaid time offSick timePaid HolidaysPersonal TimePotential Year-End BonusFinancial Assistance Program (Cookie Jar)Employee Referral Program (Bounty Bucks) CLASSIFICATION:Nonexempt DISCLAIMER:Duties and responsibilities may change, and new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice.
