Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.ResponsibilitiesUnder the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist, plans and carries out occupational therapy programs for individuals based on the diagnosis and evaluation of the physician. Facilitates rehabilitation and helps patients achieve a fulfilled and satisfied state in life through purposeful activity or interventions designed to achieve occupational outcomes that promote health.Essential FunctionsPlans and implements treatment programs involving exercise, functional activity, self-care tasks, home management tasks, and vocational and prevocational skills to help patients regain physical or mental functioning or adjust to their handicaps.Evaluates patients’ functional abilities and disabilities by tests, observations, and information provided by family members, physicians, nursing staff, and others.Educates patients and families in self-care techniques, home modifications, therapeutic exercises, activities, equipment, and other relevant areas necessary for patient functioning and well-being.Communicates with other team members throughout the hospital related to patient progress, therapy recommendations, and barriers to discharge.Maintains required patient and department records.Keeps abreast of issues and changes in the field by reading and attending professional meetings and seminars.Other duties as assigned.Minimum Education & ExperienceGraduation form curriculum approved by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association in collaboration with the American Occupational Therapy Association and completion of both didactic and clinical work requiredOr equivalent combination of education and experienceLICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONSApplication for license by New York State upon hire requiredOccupational Therapist-NY within 1 year requiredThe University of Rochester is committed to fostering, cultivating, and preserving an inclusive and welcoming culture to advance the University’s Mission to Learn, Discover, Heal, Create – and Make the World Ever Better.
