- Troy, MichiganContract Position - Hybrid PositionPay Rate: $50.00-$65.00 per hour (based on proven work history)Heavy Travel will be required of the Advanced Secondary Tool Engineer - up to 35-40%General Description Of The Advanced Secondary Tool EngineerProvide advance product and manufacturing design support to the corporate manufacturing facilities, corporate product design team, and OEM to assure manufacturing feasibility and robust processes are driven into product design from a secondary tool persepectiveAssist corporate plants in the development of RFQ, quote reviews/vetting, sourcing decision, and technical discussions with management and OEMsAssist in optimizing manufacturing efficiency and quality standards through the implementation of improved processes, materials, methods, and facilitiesSupport manufacturing facilitiyManage activities related to the tool design, construction, budget and timing of secondary machine/fixture builds for new program launchesProvide tooling leadership to project teams to support customer needsManage secondary machine/fixture build activities with suppliers to meet corporate program timing, cost, and quality objectivesChampion the preproduction machine run-off's and approval processes to assure prompt PPAP based quality cycle times and OEEsParticipate in cost negotiations pertaining to tool and engineering change costSupport preproduction machine start up at corporate manufacturing plants during the PPAP processProvide technical support to corporate manufacturing plants on troubleshooting existing manufacturing processes and/or product lines to achieve customer quality standards and profit objectivesAssist in optimizing manufacturing efficiency and quality standards through the implementation of improved processes, materials, methods, and facilitiesEnsure projects are executed with the proper safety devices per OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, and corporate standardsQualifications Of The Advanced Secondary Tool Engineer(4) year ME or IE Bachelor Degree (preferred)7-10 years' experience in machine/fixture design, construction/build, and follow up for interior trim automotive components (Floor Consoles, Instrument Panels, Hard Trim, or Doors)Core secondary operations/processes: heatstake/sonic welding, hot plate/IR welding, punching, edge wrapping, and vac formingAutomotive experience with past programs/interior trim launchesExcellent time management and project management skillsMust have good written and oral skill sets, be proficient with Microsoft Office and other computer skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneaouslyAbility to resolve issues quickly and to recognize and resolve threats to program objectivesControls Experience (PREFERRED BY NOT REQUIRED)Experience with Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens PCLExperience developing and modifying HMI software, including RSView, FactoryTalk View, WinCC, and IgnitionKnowledge of legacy automation networks, including DH+, DeviceNet, ControNet, Modbus, Profibus, ASi, and othersDevelop new and support old programming using Studio5000, RSLogix 5000, RSLogix 500, RSView Studio, FactoryTalk View Studio, RSSQL, RSNetWorxThe design, implementation, and troubleshooting of machine controls related to equipment for the plants in North America (with Global support)Must have flexibility to work at and travel to corporate plant locations and supplier locations20-30% of your time will be spent traveling supporting position requirementsMust have good negotiating skills.
