This is a non-supervisory position.\nLocation: Naval Foundry and Propeller Center, Philadelphia Naval Business Center, Philadelphia, PA\nAbout NFPC\nThe Naval Foundry and Propeller Center (NFPC) is a modern manufacturing facility that occupies a 17-acre site at the Philadelphia Navy Yard with more than 750,000 square feet of industrial and administrative floor space. NFPC employs a highly skilled and versatile workforce of engineers, trades people and support personnel who specialize in advanced engineering, castings, and precision machining.\nJob Description\nThe incumbent of this position must be able to perform contour grinding operations with the use of nonstationary pneumatic, and electric tooling such as hand grinding with disc, and stone pads. The candidate must also be able to use deburring tools for use in removing defects from castings, and machined parts.\nResponsibilities/Knowledge include but are not limited to:\n\nFollow written and oral instructions, provided by work leader, or supervisor.\nThe incumbent will be responsible in maintaining grinding tolerances that typically run from .030" to .005" over contoured surface.\nAlso, the candidate must be able to perform nonpowered hand finishing with the use of hand files, and polishing stones, where the tolerances become extremely critical.\nHe/she is responsible for government owned tools, and equipment. Responsibilities extend to daily routine of cleanliness for shop safety.\n\nQualifications\n\nQualified in the use of hand tools, power tools and various abrasive equipment.\nQualified in the use of griding tools, ex. Orbital sander, disc grinder, oscillating grinder.\nQualified n measurement equipment.\nAdept and accepting to work in groups of two or more.\n\nSecurity Clearance / Background Check required.
