Under the direction of the Agency Director, a new and dynamic executive team with an organizational structure comprised of five (5) service areas - Administrative Services, Behavioral Health Services, Correctional Health Services, Public Health Services, and Specialized Medical Services - is committed to meeting the health needs of the diverse Orange County community.THE DEPARTMENTThrough assessment, policy development, and assurance,Public Health Services (PHS) provides a wide range of services aimed at reducing death and disability by reducing the transmission of communicable diseases, preventing and lessening the impact of chronic diseases, and ensuring healthy and safe environments.THE PROGRAMCommunity and Nursing ServicesThe Community and Nursing Services division (CNSD)provides public health nursing and social services in the home and community using principles of public health, nursing, social and behavioral health, focusing on preventive health services.Public Health Nurses (PHNs), Social Workers, and Behavioral Health Clinicians partner with individuals, families, and community groups to promote, protect, and improve the health and safety of Orange County residents in support of population health. During home visits, staff use a multi-disciplinary approach to provide health education, screenings, assessments, case management, referrals and connections to health and social services to promote optimal health outcomes. CNSD programs serve various populations including infants and children with special health care needs, youth in foster care, adolescents, prenatal/postpartum clients, and older adults.THE OPPORTUNITYAs a Supervising Public Health Nurse, the incumbent will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the delivery of public health nursing services in the Health Care Program for Children in Foster Care program. The incumbent will be providing specialized and highly sensitive services with a County-wide impact, where the services provided are highly complex and varied. Incumbents at this level are required to act with considerable independence and possess a broad range of nursing knowledge and expertise in order to supervise a team with responsibility for complex, varied, and/or highly specialized nursing functions.
