Laminator AssistantThe Laminator Assistant provides critical support to the lamination process by assisting the Laminator Operator in the preparation, execution, and maintenance of lamination operations. This role is essential in ensuring efficient production flow, maintaining quality standards, and supporting overall manufacturing excellence while adhering to safety protocols. The position requires attention to detail, strong teamwork skills, and the ability to perform various tasks related to material handling and equipment maintenance. This position reports to the Shift Supervisor.Key Responsibilities:Ensure personal and team safety by following all safety protocols and procedures while assisting in machine operations and material handling processesPrepare and manage printed rolls for primary unwind and back stock rolls for secondary unwind, ensuring proper positioning and alignment for efficient productionExecute accurate roll placement in machines and prepare materials for splicing operations on both primary and secondary unwinds, maintaining consistent material flowSupport the Laminator Operator in achieving production goals through effective teamwork and communication during all phases of operationMonitor and maintain adequate levels of adhesive and cold seal wet materials, ensuring continuous availability for production needsRemove and accurately weigh startup rolls at the beginning of each job, maintaining proper documentation of weights and measurementsPerform regular cleaning and maintenance of NIP rolls during setup and downtime periods to ensure optimal equipment performanceConduct daily housekeeping duties to maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work environment according to company standardsRemove and accurately weigh waste materials from all unwinds or rewinds as required, maintaining proper waste management proceduresAssist in maximizing changeover effectiveness by working collaboratively with the Laminator Operator and maintaining efficient workflow processes.Other duties as assigned*Not in all PPK locationsEducation & Experience:High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent preferredPrevious manufacturing experience a plusDemonstrated stable work historyRequired Skills:Basic computer literacyAbility to read and use measuring toolsStrong attention to detailEffective communication skillsBasic mathematical skillsTeam-oriented mindsetAttention to detail and quality controlTime management and organizational abilitiesAdditional Requirements:Must be 18 years of ageMust pass pre-employment assessmentDrug screening requiredBackground check requiredKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:Understanding of basic lamination processesKnowledge of safety proceduresFamiliarity with manufacturing equipmentBasic quality control conceptsMaterial handling techniquesBasic troubleshooting abilitiesTime managementOrganization and planningDetail-orientedFlexible and adaptableExcellent team playerUnderstanding of raw materials and film propertiesStrong communication skills (verbal and written)Physical Demands: The associate will be exposed to the manufacturing environment where hazards and requirements may include but are not limited to:Must be able to lift and handle objects weighing up to 50 poundsCapacity to stand and walk for extended periodsAbility to climb, kneel, bend, stoop, reach, stretch and squatManual dexterity for handling materials and toolsUse of ladders and other equipmentAbility to wear required PPE (hearing protection, steel-toe shoes, safety glasses)Forklift certification or ability to obtain forklift and pallet jacksTravel Requirements: NoneWork Conditions: The majority of tasks will be performed in a manufacturing setting with exposure to:Noise levels above 85 dBOperation of complex machineryFast paced production environmentSolvents, fumes and inksVariable TemperaturesMust be able to work flexible shiftsMay require overtime, weekends, and holidays.An additional $2.50/hr premium for hours worked on NIGHT Shift only (6pm - 6am).Additional Internal Requirements:Must demonstrate Core ValuesMust be in good standing with no disciplinary action or attendance issuesMust have performer or higher rating in last reviewDemonstrated sense of urgency in production recovery situationsPrintpack is proudly an equal-opportunity employer.
