In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable web architectures that support our core financial products, including Scratch Pay and Scratch Checkout. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both frontend and backend development, with a passion for creating innovative solutions that meet client needs. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to translate product requirements into high-quality, reliable code, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance. Your expertise will contribute to enhancing our existing systems and pioneering new features that drive the company's growth and customer satisfaction.QualificationsThe ideal candidate will possess over five years of professional experience in software engineering, demonstrating proficiency in backend development with Node.js and TypeScript, along with a solid understanding of RESTful API design. Frontend experience with React, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is essential. Practical knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Firestore, and Redis is required. Familiarity with domain-based monorepos, cloud infrastructure best practices including CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and Kubernetes, is highly desirable. Candidates should be comfortable working in an agile environment, navigating fast-paced startup settings, and collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams. Fluency in English and availability within UTC-3 to UTC-8 time zones are necessary. Additional expertise in cloud platforms, risk modeling, payment processing, machine learning, and QA tooling will be considered advantageous.ResponsibilitiesDesign, architect, and implement complex systems within the Scratch ecosystem, including multi-step application processes, backend risk assessments, payment processing modules, public-facing APIs, and event-driven integrations. Write clean, maintainable, and scalable code across both backend services and frontend components, contributing directly to key projects that support our lending operations and third-party integrations. Ensure comprehensive test coverage and participate in end-to-end testing to uphold high-quality standards. Enhance and maintain our Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery pipelines to streamline deployment processes. Engage actively in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and code reviews as a vital member of the agile team, proactively identifying potential blockers or architectural challenges. Take ownership of incident response, debugging, and post-mortem reviews to continuously improve system reliability. Stay updated with industry best practices and emerging trends, bringing a mindset of continuous improvement to code quality, system architecture, and team collaboration. Translate product requirements into effective implementation plans, leveraging automated testing and AI-assisted development tools to optimize productivity and quality.BenefitsWe offer a competitive base salary ranging from USD $80,000 to $95,000, commensurate with experience and location.
