Senga Architects is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of professional structural engineering experience, with a strong background in the design, analysis, coordination, and documentation of structural systems for commercial, institutional, residential, and public-sector projects.This position is best suited for a highly capable professional who can work independently, coordinate effectively with architects and consultants, and provide thoughtful technical guidance throughout all phases of design and construction.Senga Architects Inc. is a Chicago-based architecture firm and certified Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) providing design, planning, technical documentation, permitting, and project management services for public and private sector clients. With strong knowledge of Chicago zoning, building codes, accessibility requirements, and permitting processes, Senga Architects Inc. delivers practical, well-coordinated architectural solutions from early design through construction administration.Responsibilities The Structural Engineer will be responsible for preparing and reviewing structural calculations, drawings, reports, and construction documents for a variety of project types. The role will include evaluating existing conditions, designing structural systems and modifications, coordinating with architectural and engineering teams, responding to RFIs and submittals, and assisting with field observations and construction administration as needed.The ideal candidate should be comfortable managing structural scope from concept through completion, communicating clearly with project teams, and providing practical, code-compliant solutions.QualificationsQualified candidates should have:Minimum 10 years of structural engineering experienceProfessional Engineer license preferredStrong experience with structural analysis, design, and construction documentationFamiliarity with applicable building codes and permitting requirementsExperience with steel, concrete, masonry, wood, and existing building conditionsAbility to coordinate with architects, MEP engineers, contractors, and clientsStrong written and verbal communication skillsProficiency with structural engineering software and AutoCAD/Revit preferredAbility to manage multiple projects and deadlines independentlyBenefitsSenga Architects Inc. offers a competitive benefits package, including:401(k) plan with company matchingHealth, dental, and vision insurancePaid time offPaid holidaysProfessional development supportLicensure and continuing education support, as applicablePosition DetailsThis is a full-time position. Candidates should be comfortable working collaboratively in a professional office environment and participating in project coordination meetings, site visits, and internal reviews as required.
