Pay Rate: 27.50/hrDuration: 1 yearLocation: Jacksonville, FLTitle: Automotive Engineering Technician (Contractor)Location: Engineering Test CenterEmployment Type: ContractRole Overview:The Automotive Engineering Technician supports vehicle engineering and testing activities at the Engineering Services Engineering Test Center. This role is responsible for end to end vehicle diagnostics, repairs, testing, and installations to ensure vehicles are prepared, functional, and validated for engineering development, launch, and testing activities. The technician works closely with engineers, technical case managers, and lead technicians to support vehicle readiness and data quality.Key Responsibilities:Perform full end to end vehicle diagnostics, repairs, component replacements, and installation work across multiple vehicle systems (mechanical, electrical, software-supported systems).Execute diagnostic routines using OEM diagnostic tools and software to identify faults and confirm repair effectiveness.Conduct test drives to validate repairs, system performance, and vehicle readiness.Maintain test and fleet vehicles, including routine maintenance, inspections, and documentation of vehicle condition.Prepare vehicles for engineering tests, development activities, and launch support in collaboration with engineers and technical case managers.Support the Lead Technician with day to day technical work, prioritization, and execution of repair and testing activities.Review technical cases and engineering issues, providing hands on analysis, findings, and repair feedback.Support the Launch Manager by collecting technical cases, consolidating findings, and providing summary reports related to vehicle issues and trends.Ensure all work is completed according to OEM quality standards, safety guidelines, and testing protocols.Accurately document diagnostics, repairs, test results, and technical observations in required systems.Required Qualifications:Proven experience as an automotive technician, preferably supporting an OEM, engineering organization, or test center environment.Strong diagnostic skills across powertrain, chassis, electrical, and software-related vehicle systems.Experience using OEM diagnostic tools, fault tracing, and guided test routines.Ability to perform vehicle test drives and objectively evaluate repair effectiveness.Solid understanding of vehicle systems integration and end to end repair processes.Strong attention to detail and ability to document technical findings clearly.Ability to work collaboratively with engineers, case managers, and technical leadership.Valid driver's license and ability to operate test vehicles.Preferred Qualifications:Prior experience in vehicle development, launch support, or engineering testing environments.Familiarity with technical case management systems and issue tracking tools.Experience supporting new product launches or prototype vehicles.Ability to summarize technical data and trends for management review.Working Conditions:Hands-on work in a workshop and test-center environment.May involve extended vehicle testing, diagnostic sessions, and test drives.Flexibility to support testing schedules and launch-related timelines.Must be able to work flexible hours/work scheduleWork holidays and weekends as neededTime Split:Activities supporting the Engineering Test Center: Daily 80-90%Activities supporting Launch Management: Daily 10%-20%
