Field Service TechnicianTravel: Pittsburgh, Detroit, Indianapolis, and LouisvilleHourly Rate: $34 - $43/HourPosition OverviewWe are seeking a skilled Field Service Technician to install, commission, maintain, and repair industrial equipment at customer sites. This role focuses on ensuring equipment uptime and performance across electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and control systems. The ideal candidate is a technically versatile 'road warrior' who can travel frequently, work independently in the field, and provide excellent customer service while supporting custom systems including lasers and VideoJet printers and PLC-controlled machinery (Allen-Bradley). The majority of this travel will be between Pittsburgh, Detroit, Indianapolis, and Louisville.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform installation, commissioning and start-up of industrial equipment and custom systems at customer locations, ensuring systems meet performance and safety specifications.Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic faults on production equipment; perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.Diagnose and repair PLC and control system issues, including programming checks, logic troubleshooting and communication diagnostics for Allen-Bradley and other PLC platforms.Configure, test and maintain industrial Ethernet networks and fieldbus communications to support machine control and data exchange.Service and repair laser systems and VideoJet marking/printing equipment, including alignment, calibration and consumables replacement.Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and inspections to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.Respond to emergency service calls and participate in an on-call rotation when required; travel extensively to customer sites (regional and national).Deliver clear, professional documentation: service reports, parts used, test results, and recommendations for repairs or upgrades.Provide on-site training and technical support to customers and operators, explaining system operation and basic troubleshooting steps.Maintain accurate spare parts inventory, tools and service vehicle readiness; order parts and escalate complex issues to engineering when necessary.Adhere to safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures and company and customer site requirements at all times.QualificationsTechnical diploma, associate degree, or equivalent in electrical, mechanical, mechatronics or a related field. Relevant trade certification preferred.3+ years of hands-on field service or maintenance experience with industrial equipment in electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.Proven experience with PLCs, especially Allen-Bradley, including basic ladder logic troubleshooting and diagnostics.Experience installing and servicing laser systems and VideoJet or similar marking/printing equipment is highly desirable.Familiarity with industrial Ethernet, Ethernet/IP and network troubleshooting for machine communications.Strong installation and commissioning experience, with the ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics and wiring diagrams.Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently in customer environments.Willingness and ability to travel frequently and work as a field-based technician (road warrior); valid drivers license required.Good customer-facing skills, clear verbal and written communication, and ability to train operators and client technicians.Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces and varied industrial environments.Safety-minded with knowledge of lockout/tagout and common industry safety practices; relevant safety certifications (e.g., OSHA) a plus.BenefitsHealthDentalVision401KTravel Pay
